Rivers from Nghe An to Quang Tri are likely to experience major floods.

Due to the increased activity of cold air, the tropical convergence zone maintaining its axis through the Central Central region, and easterly wind disturbances operating in the upper atmosphere from 1,500-5,000m, the Central provinces will continue to experience widespread heavy rain in the coming days.

It is forecasted that from tonight until the end of November 1, the area from Nghe An to northern Quang Tri will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 200-400mm, locally very heavy rain over 700mm.

From tonight until the end of November 1, the area from southern Quang Tri to Hue will have heavy rain with common rainfall from 70-150mm, locally very heavy rain over 250mm.

From the night of November 1 and November 2, the area from Nghe An to northern Quang Tri will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 100-200mm, locally over 350mm.

The area from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai has heavy rain, some places have very heavy rain with common rainfall from 50-150mm, locally over 250mm.

Heavy rain in the Central region is likely to last until around November 4.

From tonight to November 2, there is a possibility of a flood on rivers from Nghe An to Quang Tri. During this flood, the flood peak in the upstream of Ca River (Nghe An); Ngan Sau and Ngan Pho Rivers (Ha Tinh), Gianh River, Kien Giang River, Thach Han River (Quang Tri) will reach alert level 2 - alert level 3, some rivers will reach alert level 3, and the downstream of Ca River (Nghe An), La River (Ha Tinh) will reach alert level 1.

Risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, urban areas, and densely populated areas in provinces from Nghe An to Quang Tri.

"From November 2 to 4, floods on rivers from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai are likely to rise again. According to current forecast data, there is little possibility of a particularly large flood like the one from October 27 to 29. However, long-term forecasts from models are not yet highly reliable, so we need to continue monitoring and updating," the meteorological agency added.

Using drones to quickly deliver relief goods to people in flood-prone areas

Floods on rivers in Hue and Da Nang are receding.

Today, the rain in the provinces from Hue to Quang Ngai has decreased, so the flood on Vu Gia - Thu Bon River (Da Nang city), Bo River, Huong River (Hue city) is receding.

At 7pm tonight, the flood on Bo River at Phu Oc station was 4.08m, 0.58m above alarm level 2.

On the Huong River at Kim Long station is 2.81m, about 0.31m above alarm level 2.

On Vu Gia River at Ai Nghia station is 8.78m, below alarm level 3 is 0.22m.

On Thu Bon River at Cau Lau station is 4.72m, above alarm level 3 about 0.72m; Hoi An station 2.77m, above alarm level 3 is 0.77m.

It is forecasted that from tonight to tomorrow morning, flood on Thu Bon River will continue to decrease and be about 0.2m above alert level 3; flood on Bo River and Huong River will continue to decrease and be about 0.65m below alert level 3; Vu Gia River will continue to decrease and be about 0.2m above alert level 2.

Tomorrow, floods on Thu Bon River, Huong River, Bo River will continue to fall and be above alert level 2 by 0.35-0.6m, Vu Gia River will continue to fall and be above alert level 1 by about 0.6m.

The deep and widespread flooding in Da Nang city is gradually decreasing, while flooding in Hue city will continue to decrease rapidly in the next 1-2 days.
