Madam Pang went to the Vietnamese Embassy to apologize for the misuse of the national flag.

(Dan Tri) - President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), Madam Pang, went to the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand to apologize after the organizers of the Southeast Asian U19 futsal tournament draw incorrectly used the Vietnamese national flag.

The draw for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 and U16 futsal tournament took place on the afternoon of October 28 in Nonthaburi (Thailand). Accordingly, during the draw, the organizing committee used the wrong Vietnamese flag, replacing it with the Chinese flag.

In a document sent to the AFF, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) clearly stated its view that this serious incident could have consequences affecting Vietnam's image and negatively impact the solidarity of the ASEAN community.

Immediately after the incident, FAT sent a letter of apology to VFF and the Vietnamese people for this serious incident. Yesterday (October 29), Madam Pang sent Vice President Adisak Benjasiriwan to Vietnam to meet directly with VFF leaders and apologize.

Not stopping there, today (October 30), Madam Pang also went to the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand to meet Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, to present flowers and express her sincere apologies to VFF and the Vietnamese people.

Madam Pang's personal page wrote: "Madam Pang met directly with the Vietnamese people in Thailand and understood their dissatisfaction with the recent serious mistake. The head of Thai football affirmed that FAT always respects the national flag of the countries because it is an important symbol. She hopes that the Vietnamese people will forgive FAT for its unintentional mistake.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung thanked Madam Pang for her sincere apology and prompt action to correct the error. Earlier, yesterday afternoon, Madam Pang sent Vice President Adisak Benjasiriwan to Vietnam to apologize.

Thailand and Vietnam recently upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership, which includes political and security cooperation, economic cooperation, people-to-people exchange cooperation and tourism. More importantly, in 2026, Thailand and Vietnam will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.”
