Prime Minister: The press is the vanguard force in the fight against corruption.

(Dan Tri) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always been a vanguard force in the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity.

On the evening of October 30, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) coordinated with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television to organize the 5th National Press Awards Ceremony for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity, 2024-2025. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.

The press is the vanguard force in the fight against corruption.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the 5th National Press Awards Ceremony on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity took place in an atmosphere of the whole country excitedly competing to achieve achievements to welcome the 14th National Congress of the Party and celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2025).

This is an important event to recognize and honor outstanding journalistic works in the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity, contributing to building an increasingly clean and strong Party and political system.

According to the Prime Minister, during his lifetime, beloved President Ho Chi Minh - the great teacher of the Vietnamese revolution, national liberation hero, world cultural celebrity of Vietnam - advised: corruption, waste and bureaucracy are enemies of the people, a kind of internal invader.

Taking to heart his advice, our Party and State have focused on directing the drastic, synchronous and strict implementation of the uncompromising fight against corruption, waste and negativity with the motto of no "forbidden zones" and no "exceptions" and have achieved many very important and comprehensive results, which have been approved and supported by the people and highly appreciated by the international community.

The Prime Minister assessed that the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always been a vanguard force in the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity.

In particular, the national press award on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television is a place to gather and honor the most outstanding works on this particularly important front.

"Behind each article and each investigative report is the unceasing creativity, the spirit of dedication, the courage, intelligence and courageous commitment of journalists to shine the light of justice and truth to help authorities investigate and handle many serious corruption and waste cases, recover thousands of billions of VND and hundreds of hectares of land for the State, and receive the sympathy and support of a large number of cadres, party members and people," the Prime Minister emphasized.

Building a strong team of journalists

The Head of Government assessed that after 5 seasons of organization, the national press award on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity has increasingly improved its position, prestige and influence.

Building on the success of last season, this year's award continues to record many impressive highlights such as: Attracting the participation of a large number of journalists and press agencies with 1,100 works of diverse genres and improved quality.

The works all closely follow the policies and orientations of the Party and State, the direction of General Secretary To Lam and the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity; are highly topical, record issues arising from practice, reflect the truth, directly name and shame, and condemn individuals and groups with negative manifestations.

Many works reflect good people, good deeds, bravely fighting against corruption, waste, negativity and have a high impact; clearly demonstrating the supervisory and critical role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and the active participation of the people in preventing and combating corruption, waste, negativity, etc.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television for successfully organizing this very meaningful press award; and at the same time congratulated 44 authors and groups of authors whose excellent works were honored at the award ceremony.

The Prime Minister suggested that it is necessary to continue to strongly promote the key role of the press, building a team of journalists who are "steadfast, not retreating in the face of difficulties and challenges; alert in the face of temptations; steadfast and persistent in political will; dedicated and sharp in expertise; humane in practice and resolutely and courageously fight uncompromisingly against corruption, waste and negativity with the spirit of "steel in the pen, fire in the heart".

Along with that, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations continue to perform well the tasks of social supervision and criticism, further promoting the role and strength of the people in detecting and fighting against manifestations and acts of corruption, waste, negativity, etc.

The Prime Minister believes that the national press award on preventing corruption, waste and negativity will continue to innovate, create a strong influence, add motivation, inspiration and create confidence for journalists to freely create, contribute their talent, enthusiasm and intelligence to the cause of fighting corruption, waste and negativity.

At the 5th National Press Award Ceremony for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity, 2024-2025, the organizing committee awarded 4 A prizes, 10 B prizes, 12 C prizes, and 18 Encouragement prizes; at the same time, commended 5 press agencies and authors and groups of authors who made positive contributions to the 5th National Press Award for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity, 2024-2025.

Of which, 4 A prizes were awarded to the works:

Series of 3 articles "Veterans persistently fight against internal invaders" of Vietnam Veterans Newspaper;

The work "Fighting waste in the field of science and technology" of the electronic newspaper Auditing;

The work "What to do with redundant headquarters" by VOV Traffic - Voice of Vietnam;

The work "Paradox of investing in waste treatment technology" by VTV1 Channel, Vietnam Television.
