Central region's transport infrastructure severely damaged by floods

Due to the impact of prolonged rain and floods over the past several days, provinces and cities in the Central region from Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang to Quang Ngai have suffered heavy damage to traffic infrastructure.

According to the Vietnam Road Administration, as of 10 a.m. on October 31, there were still 79 traffic jams in this area. Specifically, in Hue City there were 16 landslides on the West branch of Ho Chi Minh Road, in Da Nang City there were 14 traffic jams, and in Quang Ngai there were 4 landslides mainly on the Truong Son Dong route. The La Son - Hoa Lien route is currently cracked and closed to traffic at 3 locations.

Immediately after the floods cut off many vital traffic routes, the functional units mobilized maximum human resources, equipment, and vehicles, focusing on clearing the route as soon as possible, while ensuring absolute safety for the construction force. According to statistics, tens of kilometers of road were damaged, tens of thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil, and slopes on key routes in the Central region were eroded. To restore these routes to their original state, the workload will be huge and take a lot of time for the construction units.
