Working all night to help people in floods
From the evening of October 30 to the early morning of October 31, when the heavy rain had not stopped and many areas were deeply flooded, the Provincial Military Command forces continued to organize rescue operations throughout the night, evacuating people from dangerous areas.
Under the flashlights and in the cold floodwaters, each working group of the 812th Infantry Regiment and the local militia and self-defense force braved the rain, carrying the elderly, holding children, and bringing people through the deep flooded areas to safety. Many soldiers did not leave their positions all night, both assisting in the evacuation of people and clearing sewers to reduce local flooding.
Immediately after that, when it was just dawn, the Provincial Military Command continued to mobilize more than 500 officers and soldiers of affiliated units and militia and self-defense forces to deploy rescue on a large scale. Of which, nearly 200 officers and soldiers of specialized military forces, along with more than 300 militia and self-defense forces in localities: Duc Trong, Bao Lam, La Gi, Phan Thiet... were mobilized to heavily affected areas.

Participating units include: Duc Trong, Bao Lam, La Gi, Phan Thiet Regional Defense Command, 812th Infantry Regiment, Border Guards and Mechanized Reconnaissance Company. Promoting the motto of "4 on-site", "3 ready", the forces quickly mobilized vehicles, approached deeply flooded and landslide areas, supported the evacuation of people, transported necessities, and prevented people from going hungry or lacking temporary shelter.
Together with the main force, the local militia actively coordinated, closely followed the area, grasped the situation of each neighborhood and each household to provide timely support. In the floodwaters, the image of young militiamen and soldiers helping people, moving belongings, and clearing the flow became vivid evidence of the spirit of military-civilian solidarity.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Minh Hai - Deputy Commander of Regiment 812 said: "We divided into many working groups, on duty all night to ensure that no people were trapped in the flooded area. After the water receded, the forces quickly cleaned up the mud, disinfected the environment, prioritizing schools, medical stations and residential areas to soon stabilize people's lives."
The army is the mainstay in the flood.
To proactively respond to new situations, the Provincial Military Command maintains a 24/7 hotline, ready to receive rescue information, and deploys combat forces at key points. Logistics, food and safety for troops are carefully implemented, contributing to improving the effectiveness of rescue missions.

Colonel Truong Ngoc Truong, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command, emphasized: “We consider this a key and regular task. The army and militia are always at the forefront with the local government to help people overcome difficulties and ensure absolute safety for people and property.”
During the night of October 30 to early morning of October 31, Brigade 681 of Naval Region 3 was also present in the neighborhoods along the Ca Ty River, Tien Thanh Ward, where the water level rose high and flowed rapidly. Dozens of naval officers and soldiers waded in floodwaters, carried the elderly and children out of danger zones, and assisted in moving livestock and property to safety.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tuan, Brigade Commander of Brigade 681, Naval Region 3, shared: “We always follow the motto “helping people is an order from the heart”. Regardless of heavy rain, deep water or dark night, we are determined to reach every household, ensuring that no one is left behind.”
Beautiful symbol of military-civilian love
In the midst of the vast sea of water, the soldiers in green shirts still steadfastly moved forward, step by step bringing people to safety. Images of soldiers carrying old people and children onto boats, militiamen helping people through flooded areas, or military canoes carrying drinking water and food into isolated areas at night left a strong and emotional impression.

In difficult times, the spirit of “sacrificing oneself for the people” of Lam Dong armed forces was once again affirmed. They are not only a solid “shield” in the midst of the flood, but also a support of trust, a beautiful symbol of the solidarity between the army and the people in times of trouble, contributing to helping people quickly overcome natural disasters, stabilize their lives and restore production after floods.
