Working through the night to help people during the floods.
From the evening of October 30th to the early morning of October 31st, while heavy rain continued and many areas were deeply flooded, the Provincial Military Command forces worked through the night to organize rescue efforts and evacuate people from dangerous areas.
Under the beam of flashlights and in the freezing floodwaters, teams from the 812th Infantry Regiment, along with local militia forces, braved the rain, carrying the elderly and children, and guiding residents through deeply flooded areas to safety. Many soldiers stayed at their posts throughout the night, assisting in the evacuation of residents and clearing drainage ditches to reduce localized flooding.
Immediately after dawn, the Provincial Military Command mobilized more than 500 officers and soldiers from its subordinate units and militia forces to carry out large-scale rescue operations. Nearly 200 officers and soldiers from specialized military forces, along with over 300 militia members from localities such as Duc Trong, Bao Lam, La Gi, and Phan Thiet, were deployed to the severely affected areas.

Participating units included: the Defense Command of Duc Trong, Bao Lam, La Gi, and Phan Thiet areas; the 812th Infantry Regiment; the Border Guard; and the Mechanized Reconnaissance Company. Adhering to the "4 on-the-spot" and "3 ready" principles, the forces quickly mobilized vehicles and equipment to reach deeply flooded and landslide-affected areas, assisting in the evacuation of residents, transporting essential supplies, and ensuring that people did not suffer from hunger or lack of temporary shelter.
Along with the main army units, the local militia actively coordinated, stayed close to the area, and kept a close watch on the situation in each neighborhood and household to provide timely assistance. In the floodwaters, the image of young militia members helping people, moving belongings, and clearing waterways became a vivid testament to the spirit of solidarity between the army and the people.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Minh Hai, Deputy Commander of Regiment 812, said: “We divided into many working groups, on duty throughout the night to ensure that no residents were trapped in the flooded areas. After the water receded, the forces quickly cleaned up the mud and disinfected the environment, prioritizing schools, health stations, and residential areas to quickly restore normal life for the people.”
Soldiers are a pillar of support in the heart of the flood.
To proactively respond to new situations, the Provincial Military Command maintains a 24/7 hotline, ready to receive rescue information and deploy forces on duty at critical points. Logistics, food supplies, and troop safety are meticulously handled, contributing to improved effectiveness in rescue and relief operations.

Colonel Truong Ngoc Truong, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command, emphasized: "We consider this a key and ongoing task. The army and militia are always on the front lines, working alongside local authorities to help people overcome difficulties and ensure absolute safety of people and property."
During the night of October 30th to the early morning of October 31st, Brigade 681 of the 3rd Naval Region was also present in the riverside neighborhoods of the Ca Ty River in Tien Thanh Ward, where the water level was high and the current was strong. Dozens of naval officers and soldiers waded through the floodwaters, carrying the elderly and young children out of dangerous areas, and assisting in moving livestock and property to safety.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tuan, Commander of Brigade 681, Region 3 of the Navy, shared: “We always adhere to the motto ‘helping the people is a command from the heart.’ Whether in heavy rain, deep water, or at night, our team is determined to reach every household, ensuring that no one is left behind.”
A beautiful symbol of the bond between the military and the people.
Amidst the vast expanse of floodwaters, the soldiers in their green uniforms persevered, steadily advancing, guiding people to safety step by step. Images of soldiers carrying elderly people and children onto boats, militiamen helping residents cross flooded areas, and military canoes carrying drinking water and food to isolated regions at night left a powerful and moving impression.

In times of hardship, the spirit of "selfless service to the people" of the Lam Dong armed forces was once again affirmed. They were not only a solid "shield" in the heart of the flood, but also a pillar of faith, a beautiful symbol of the close bond between the military and the people in times of disaster, contributing to helping people overcome the natural disaster, stabilize their lives, and restore production after the floods.
