The inter-agency food safety inspection team of Tri Le commune inspected food businesses in the festival area.
The province has approximately 280 festivals, including over 240 traditional festivals. In addition, the province has over 7,200 food production and service businesses and more than 1,300 street food stalls. During festival days, the number of seasonal street food stalls increases significantly. Therefore, functional forces and local authorities have been strengthening inspections and supervision of food safety and hygiene.
For example, the Quynh Son Festival in 2026 (Bac Son commune) will be held over two days (January 12th and 13th). This is one of the major festivals that attracts a large number of visitors. According to the leaders of Bac Son commune, this year's festival is expected to welcome around 15,000 visitors.
Mr. Trinh Minh Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Son commune, said: Currently, preparations for the festival are basically complete. To ensure food safety and hygiene, the People's Committee of the commune has established and directed an inter-agency inspection team on food safety and hygiene to inspect all food service businesses in the area in order to promptly detect and handle violations.
Similarly, for the Dong Dang Festival in 2026 (Dong Dang commune), to ensure food safety and hygiene during the festival (January 9th and 10th), the People's Committee of Dong Dang commune has also established an inter-agency inspection team on food safety and hygiene for the 2026 spring festival season, with full participation from relevant authorities, to inspect compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations at food production, processing, and business establishments and food service providers in the commune.
Mr. Tran Duy Hieu, Team Leader of Market Management Team No. 2, said: "In the area under our responsibility, many festivals are held, including the Dong Dang Festival, which attracts a large number of locals and tourists. To ensure food safety and hygiene, even before Tet (Lunar New Year), the team established a task force to closely monitor the area and tighten inspections of food businesses. Accordingly, from the beginning of the year until now, the team has inspected and handled 33 violations, with a total administrative fine of over 64 million VND. After Tet, from the 8th day of the first lunar month, the team will continue to coordinate with relevant units to conduct mobile inspections of stalls and food service businesses in the managed area, especially focusing on businesses in the area around the Dong Dang Mother Goddess Temple to ensure food safety and hygiene at the festival."
In addition to Market Management Team No. 2, other Market Management teams under the Provincial Market Management Department have also intensified their efforts to monitor the area and conduct inspections of food business activities at all festival venues.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Head of the Provincial Market Management Department, said: "Ensuring food safety and hygiene during the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival season of 2026 has been and is being prioritized by the department. During this time, the department is directing its subordinate market management teams to strengthen inspections and supervision of food service businesses in areas and locations where festivals are taking place and tourist destinations with large crowds."
In parallel with inspection activities, the Market Management Force also proactively coordinated with the police force and specialized departments of communes and wards to disseminate legal documents on ensuring food safety and hygiene to organizations and individuals doing business in food at festivals. This helped to raise awareness of compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations among business establishments.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Nga, Director of Mai Sao Lang Son Cooperative (Man Duong village, Nhan Ly commune), shared that the cooperative processes and sells many OCOP products and specialties of the province such as braised pork belly, roast duck, sausage, chili bamboo shoots, etc. Every year, the cooperative promotes and sells its products at several major festivals in the province. When selling products at these festivals, we are regularly visited by functional forces and local authorities for information and inspection on food safety and hygiene. The cooperative always strictly adheres to regulations on food business and commits to using raw materials with clear origins; the processing procedures are carried out in accordance with regulations.
To date, several festivals have been held in various communes and wards across the province. Thanks to the timely and decisive intervention of functional forces and local authorities, no food poisoning incidents have occurred in the province so far.
Festivals in the province are still being held, and it is believed that the active involvement of relevant agencies and the authorities of communes and wards will be the basis for ensuring food safety and hygiene during the 2026 festival season.
