The artistic dialogue in "The Mutant Flow"

With its evocative title – “Mutant Flow” – the exhibition explores the contrast between two artistic frames of reference. While artist Dao Anh Khanh has pursued large-scale installation and performance projects for many years, exploring the energy of survival and the movement of nature, CAT enters painting with a surreal inner world called “MetaReverse.” This is a concept coined by the artist herself to describe a “Reborn Universe” – where the beauty of humanity, nature, and the obsession with technology coexist.

The exhibition "Sudden Flow" presents to the public 200 works in various materials, such as lacquer, ink drawings on paper, colored pencil drawings on paper, acrylic paintings on canvas… All of these create a rich artistic space, allowing viewers to appreciate the contrast in creative styles and life experiences between two generations of artists.

Artist Dao Anh Khanh continues to showcase the beauty of fertility and the primal energy of life. His symbolic images, rich in visual rhythm, evoke the movement of nature, the earth, and origins.

Meanwhile, Dao Anh Tho's artistic world opens up contemporary questions by placing human beauty alongside anxieties about the potential consequences of technology.

As an educator and cultural researcher, and also the host of the exhibition's opening ceremony, MC Thanh Mai believes that the "Sudden Flow" exhibition by artists Dao Anh Khanh and Dao Anh Tho prompts viewers to pause and reflect.

According to MC Thanh Mai, the history of art proves that every step forward begins with "breakthroughs," moments when artists break the familiar order to open up a new language. For painter Dao Anh Khanh, this breakthrough is not a random breaking but the result of a process of accumulating creative energy over many years. His painting style embodies a rhythmic movement, like the waves of the subconscious.

Artist Dao Anh Tho, on the other hand, brings a completely different visual world, a world of cubism, surreal shapes, and enigmatic metaphors. Beneath these cubist structures and surreal forms lies a distinctly healing energy. Looking at it for a while, viewers feel as if the layers of color are conversing with each other, opening up moments of inner stillness. This isn't painting to be deciphered immediately, but painting to feel, to contemplate, and for each person to find a part of their own emotions within it.

“What is remarkable about ‘The Flow of Mutation’ is not just the individual paintings, but the overall artistic space that the two artists create. The works become a spreading energy, connecting the artists, the artworks, and the viewers. In particular, behind each layer of color, each brushstroke, is a flow of passion and an unceasing desire for creativity. This is what gives the father and daughter painters Dao Anh Khanh and Dao Anh Tho their artistic vitality,” shared MC Thanh Mai.

The exhibition runs until March 20th.
