However, to develop this place into a unique cultural and tourist destination, much effort is still needed in beautifying the landscape and creating "breathing space" for the artwork.
Bringing art closer to the public.
Meritorious Artist Dang Cong Hung - Chairman of the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, Head of the Organizing Committee of the "Land and People of Gia Lai " Sculpture Workshop - said: The cluster of 14 works in phase I (inaugurated on August 19, 2025) has received many positive reviews from the public and the art community.
After securing additional funding through social mobilization, 11 more outstanding works by renowned sculptors nationwide will continue to be constructed and displayed in Phase II, contributing to enhancing the urban landscape and bringing art closer to the public.

Still bearing the distinctive characteristics of the highland region, the new sculptures continue to bring viewers a full range of emotions with works such as "Echoes of the Great Forest" (by Nguyen Hoai Huyen Vu), "The Awakening Sun Goddess" (Tran Mai Huu Quy), "Barefoot" (Pham Dinh Tien), "Mountain Girl" (Nguyen Huu Hau), "Girl Beside the Chơ Rao Bird" (Vo Ngoc Lan)...

Having followed the inauguration of the artwork collection through both phases, Mr. Duong Van Minh (Quy Nhon Nam ward) - a member of the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts - offered words of praise: "The artistic metaphors and stylization of the works are very high, highlighting the soul of the Central Highlands land and people with their warm, majestic beauty."
When these artworks are placed in urban spaces, they contribute to transforming this area into a place full of energy.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, Luong Xuan Doan, also shared similar sentiments at the inauguration ceremony of the first phase of the artworks. He said: “I think that with such beautiful nature, with these stream banks, there is no reason not to have outdoor sculpture. Outdoor sculpture is not just about monuments and memorials, but also about small sculptures that harmonize with nature and beautify it.”
The visual impact of viewing the artworks scattered along this stream is sure to evoke strong emotions. Visitors to Pleiku will experience the beauty of this land; but more importantly, the children growing up here will have their first glimpse of beauty.”
Emphasis on preservation and conservation.
Attending the inauguration ceremony on the afternoon of May 19th, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Que expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and sculptors nationwide for their love for Gia Lai; at the same time, the local government will continue to focus on preserving the artworks and beautifying the exhibition space to spread the value of the "art road" to the people and tourists.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also suggested: In the mountainous city of Pleiku, there are still many places where the beauty of the landscape can be enhanced through urban art. Therefore, leaders of the wards should boldly discuss ideas with the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts to elevate the urban landscape and create more attractive destinations for tourists.
Sharing his impressions at the ceremony, sculptor Nguyen Van Ham (Da Nang, who contributed the work "Echoes") commented: Thanks to the province's attention, the decisive actions of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, and the solidarity of the artists, a sculpture garden has been created in the heart of the mountain town, despite the very modest funding from social contributions.
"If we treat the artists and their works with respect and appreciation, the artists will continue to respond. Personally, I hope that the local authorities will allocate funds for maintenance because rain and sun will affect the appearance of the artwork."
"In addition, we could encourage families in this area to work together to protect the artwork from damage caused by irresponsible individuals," suggested sculptor Nguyen Van Ham.

In addition, given the situation where artworks have to "compete" with the densely parked vehicles along the Hoi Phu stream, the Chairman of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, Dang Cong Hung, said: The Association will discuss with the local authorities to come up with solutions to give the artworks "breathing space," creating an open area for people and tourists to admire them.
The association will also propose beautifying the embankment landscape with suitable ornamental plants and flowers to provide residents and tourists with profound and emotionally rich experiences of the harmony between nature and public art.
