Located approximately 20 km southwest of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Vuc Tro is a natural lake situated in the buffer zone of the park. It remains relatively unspoiled, surrounded by natural forests and limestone mountains. Particularly from late March to the end of May, when the weather warms up, flocks of white butterflies appear at Vuc Tro Lake, making it a popular tourist attraction.

Ms. Pham Thi Giang (30 years old, residing in Hoan Lao commune, Quang Tri province ) annually invites her friends to the lakes and streams around Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park around the end of April and beginning of May to immerse themselves in nature and, especially, to take photos with the white butterflies.
"For about three years now, starting in mid-summer, my friends and I have been coming here to take photos with the beautiful white butterflies and then camping overnight. This year we went in early May, so it was easy to spot the white butterflies. The closer it gets to the end of the season, the more butterflies there are, and the more beautiful they become," Ms. Giang shared.

White butterflies are most abundant at the lake from around 10 am to 3 pm. During this time, the weather becomes sunny and warm, creating ideal conditions for butterflies to thrive. At Vuc Tro Lake, white butterflies are the most numerous, flying in large flocks along the lake's edge. Besides white butterflies, several other species, such as swallowtail butterflies and citrus butterflies, also congregate here, displaying vibrant colors and large sizes.
