U.23 Vietnam races against time for the opening match
Group 1 of U.23 Vietnam departed from Hanoi on the morning of November 10, including the coaching staff and 12 players from PVF-CAND, The Cong Viettel , Becamex TP.HCM, SLNA, Da Nang Club and Hai Phong Club, completing round 11 of V-League 2025 - 2026.
Group 2 departed from Ho Chi Minh City with 8 players from HAGL, Thanh Hoa Club, Ho Chi Minh City Police and Ninh Binh FC. Group 3 departed a day later, including 6 players from Hanoi FC, CAHN and Hong Linh Ha Tinh to compete in the V-League on the night of November 10.
According to the schedule, the Vietnam U.23 team will only have one training session on the afternoon of November 11 to complete preparations, before meeting the host team China U.23 at 6:35 p.m. Vietnam time on November 12 at the Shuangliu Stadium with a capacity of 26,000 seats.

After that, the U.23 Vietnam team will have 2 days to rest, recover and get used to the climate in Chengdu (Sichuan province, China) before entering the second match with U.23 Uzbekistan - the 2018 U.23 Asian champion at 2:30 p.m. Vietnam time on November 15.
On November 18, the U.23 Vietnam team will play another final match, also at 2:30 p.m. Vietnam against another former U.23 Asian champion, U.23 Korea, before returning to Vietnam to prepare for the second part of the training session personally led by coach Kim Sang-sik.
Challenges with expectations
This is considered a big challenge for Acting Head Coach Dinh Hong Vinh and his team - who performed very well when leading U.23 Vietnam, missing many key players, to a draw with U.23 China, U.23 Korea, and U.23 Uzbekistan in March.

Dinh Bac helped CAHN Club beat Ha Tinh Club 3-0 and then flew to China with U.23 Vietnam.

The advantage of U.23 Vietnam at this time is that most of the players are maintaining their performance in the V-League and have trained together through many training sessions since the end of 2024. Of course, the opponents also launched important squads in this tournament when the 2026 AFC U.23 Championship is approaching.
That competitive spirit is exactly what coach Kim Sang-sik (watching from afar as he is with the Vietnamese team) is looking forward to. Although the team has to move to ensure their physical strength and practice in a foreign land, U.23 Vietnam is expected to enter the competition confidently and achieve high professional efficiency in this quality international tournament.
The most important goal of U.23 Vietnam at Panda Cup 2025 is still to accumulate more international competition experience, perfect personnel and playing style, aiming to compete for the gold medal at SEA Games 33 and go deep in the 2026 AFC U.23 Championship.
Up to this point, no station in Vietnam has intended to buy the broadcasting rights of the tournament, so the audience will suffer a significant loss.
