The Galaxy S26 series – including the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra – is becoming a hot topic in the tech world, not only because of its hardware improvements but also because of its unexpected launch strategy.
According to a new report from Korean media, Samsung appears to have ironed out some of the final ambiguities regarding the announcement timing and chip configurations for the new models.

While previously many rumors said that the Galaxy S26 would have to wait until March 2026, the new report revealed that Samsung plans to hold an Unpacked event as early as late January 2026, and launch commercial sales globally in mid-February 2026.
Although this timeline is a bit later than the Galaxy S25 (launched on January 22 and sold from February 3 this year), it is still significantly earlier than previous pessimistic speculations.
Bringing products to market earlier helps Samsung capture media attention, avoiding the impact of device launch events of competitors, especially Apple and Xiaomi.
Source Chosun Biz – a reputable press organization in Korea – confirmed that the February 2026 release date has been confirmed internally by Samsung.
While plans are always subject to change, at this point the likelihood of the event being postponed to March is very low.
Galaxy S26 Ultra does not use Exynos chip
The most notable point in this report is the configuration of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. After the Galaxy S25 series used entirely Snapdragon chips, there were rumors that Samsung would "reverse" and use all Exynos chips for the Galaxy S26 series.
This rumor makes many users worried, as Exynos in the past has often been rated lower in terms of performance and thermal optimization.
However, new sources say: Galaxy S26 Ultra will use Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, most likely Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 - the latest high-end chip line.
Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus will use Exynos 2600 chip developed by Samsung.
The split chip configuration shows that Samsung continues to follow the "two chip standards" strategy like previous generations (except for the special S25 line that uses all Snapdragon).
Although the Exynos 2600 has not been released yet and there is no official performance review, most Android users already have a pretty clear prejudice: Exynos means compromise.
Even if the initial benchmarks are good, user perception is the deciding factor.
So the fact that the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus use Exynos can make users have a clear hierarchy: if you want maximum performance, choose Ultra.
Does the masterpiece have all the elements to explode?
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is slowly becoming the center of attention of the entire lineup, and there's a reason for that.

Samsung almost "bets" all the best technology on the Ultra version: The most powerful chip from Qualcomm; More optimized camera and sensor; Flat design with high-quality materials; Fully integrated S Pen features and professional shooting capabilities.
While leaked images haven't yet received absolute consensus on the design, design has never been enough to stop a Samsung flagship from becoming a best-selling phenomenon.
S-series buyers, especially the Ultra line, tend to focus more on technology, performance, and cameras.
However, there is still one point that worries the community: the selling price may increase sharply. The Galaxy S25 Ultra already has a high price, and the S26 Ultra becoming the only version using Snapdragon chips may make Samsung "confident" to set an even higher price.
But now, high prices may no longer be too big a barrier for customers willing to pay for the most powerful technology.
Looking at it that way, Samsung seems to understand its market strategy very well: the Galaxy S26 Ultra is for people who want the maximum experience and are willing to spend.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus are “softer” options, suitable for the majority.
Samsung is holding a big advantage in the 2026 flagship race
The early announcement of the Galaxy S26 is also a strategic move by Samsung as it can take the spotlight before other Android competitors, while increasing sales in the first quarter cycle - a time of strong product consumption and creating a gap with the next generation iPhone (launched in September).

If all the information is correct, the S26 Ultra has all the elements to become the top-selling super product in 2026: The most powerful Qualcomm chip; Launched earlier than expected; Clear focus on the high-performance segment.
The Galaxy S26 series promises to be Samsung's most anticipated launch in years. The good news for fans is that the product will be released earlier than previously rumored. The Galaxy S26 Ultra officially uses Snapdragon, not Exynos.
Samsung is preparing for a big push. If everything goes according to plan, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could be a hot product as early as 2026.
