According to Booking.com's 2025 Travel Trends Report , up to 67% of Vietnamese travelers said they plan to travel alone in 2025. This number is much higher than a few years ago, when traveling without a companion was considered "unusual". Now, "solo trip" is not only an experience but also a way for each person to find a quiet moment, temporarily put aside daily worries to take care of themselves.

With the message "Enjoy yourself", Booking.com believes that solo travel brings absolute freedom. You can wake up at any time, stop where you want and admire the world at your own pace. This trend is especially welcomed on Singles' Day 11.11, an event celebrating independence and self-love that is spreading globally.

While in the past Vietnamese people often preferred to travel in groups of friends or family, now many people choose individual travel as a way to balance their lives. Many people share that "solo trips" help them become more confident, mature and have more improvisational skills when having to plan, book, travel and explore by themselves. The development of online travel platforms also makes solo travel easier.

Research shows that Vietnamese people tend to choose safe, easy-to-travel destinations that combine exploration and relaxation.

Bangkok (Thailand) tops the list for first trips abroad thanks to its visa-free status, cultural proximity and wide range of activities from street food to traditional cooking classes.

Tokyo (Japan) attracts those who love dynamic urban areas and unique culture. Strolling around Shibuya, admiring cherry blossoms or experiencing samurai culture are all interesting options for solo travelers.

Travel experts say: "As the need for mental health care increases, solo travel will become a sustainable trend. Vietnamese tourists today are more proactive, willing to spend money on private experiences instead of following crowded tours like before."
