This is a continuation of the Ban Vuong worship ceremony. The Dao people perform the Fire Jumping ceremony with the wish to pray for the gods to bless and protect their family, clan, and village to be safe, prosperous, and celebrate a bountiful harvest. In addition, the Fire Jumping ceremony also aims to ward off evil spirits, diseases, and bad luck from the old year, and to pray for a prosperous and happy life when entering a new year. At the same time, the Fire Jumping ceremony also demonstrates the strength of people in the process of working, controlling nature, and fighting against wild animals that destroy crops.
