9X Vietnamese guy travels to 100 countries in 2 years, sets Guinness record

(Dan Tri) - Once a famous music producer and young actor, Brasil Nguyen surprised many people when he turned to becoming a travel blogger (someone who shares travel experiences).

The musician quit his job as an arranger to travel around the world.

Brasil Nguyen's real name is Nguyen Nam Hieu (born in 1995), he used to be the arranger and arranger for many famous singers such as: Ho Ngoc Ha, Ung Hoang Phuc, Bich Phuong, Dan Truong, Tien Tien, Pham Dinh Thai Ngan... He also participated in many music competitions and achieved remarkable achievements.

“When I was still working in the arts, my income was about 5,000-6,000 USD (about 131-157 million VND) per month. But after a while, I felt pressured, partly because that period was a transition between the young generation of musicians and the generation that had been working for a long time. I wanted to challenge myself with a completely different direction, unrelated to art,” he shared.

After a short time trying his hand at business, he started making videos sharing about his trips, restaurants, and daily life. Unexpectedly, these clips quickly attracted hundreds of thousands of views, leading him to a career in creating professional travel content.

Before building his personal channel, he spent time carefully studying the content creation model to be financially independent. Currently, his income mainly comes from promotional cooperation with tourism agencies and introducing products related to tourism or life.

“That’s how I maintain my job and share my real experiences with viewers, without turning my journey into an advertisement. I just tell the story of a Vietnamese person traveling and experiencing the world with real eyes,” he said.

The turning point came in 2023 when Brasil Nguyen was invited to collaborate on promoting an international cruise ship. The footage of this journey received positive feedback, helping him realize his true passion.

“I used to think traveling was just a hobby, but looking back, it's how I live - to travel to learn, to see how big the world is,” he said.

Traveled to nearly 118 countries, set two Guinness records

Currently, Brasil Nguyen's TikTok channel has more than 500,000 followers, becoming one of the most well-known Vietnamese travel bloggers abroad. In just two years, Brasil Nguyen has set foot in 100 countries, spanning from South America, Africa to Europe and the Middle East.

This achievement helped him receive two Guinness World Records: Vietnamese person traveling to 100 countries in 2 years, under 30 years old; First Vietnamese person earning income from creating travel content abroad.

To date, Brasil Nguyen has traveled to 118 countries, recording hundreds of videos exploring cultures, cuisines and people around the world. He currently lives in Ho Chi Minh City and said that in 2025 he will continue to spend most of his time exploring North America, with 18 new destinations.

He shared that to travel to nearly 120 countries, an average person needs to spend about 4-5 billion VND, depending on the way of travel, length of stay and personal expenses. His family is a working-class family, so all the support for him is mainly spiritual.

“I am happy because my family supports me in doing what I love. What makes me most proud is my Vietnamese passport. I want to spread the message that Vietnamese people can travel far, touch many different lands and still return home with pride intact.”

During his journey, he was most impressed by two countries: Switzerland - a place with majestic natural landscapes mixed with ancient cities and Israel - a holy land of major religions.

At first, it was quite difficult for him to get a visa to other countries. Later, when his journey was clearly recorded, it became easier, even for "difficult" countries like the UK, the US, and Canada.

“As long as you prepare your documents carefully, honestly, have a clear purpose and prove your finances, nothing is impossible,” he shared.

In 2023, Brazil Nguyen traveled to 43 countries, mainly in Asia and Africa. By 2024, that number will increase to 55. He said he usually only stays in Vietnam for the last 4 months of the year to celebrate Tet and participate in charity activities.

“Every trip is a sky full of thoughts. I used to be afraid that if I was away for too long, people would forget me. But in fact, the more I traveled, the more love I received from friends and colleagues. When I returned, I still felt like I had a lot of work to do,” he said.

For Brasil Nguyen, traveling is not just about milestones or records, but also a journey to find himself. From a person who left the music scene, to a young man who brings the story of Vietnam to all five continents.
