Standardizing the real estate brokerage profession with a set of brokerage practice standards

The project was implemented by the Vietnam Real Estate Market Research Institute under the auspices of the Ministry of Construction , marking an important turning point in the standardization and professionalization of the real estate brokerage profession.

This is the first project in Vietnam to build a professional competency framework for real estate brokers, aiming to form national standards, contributing to professionalizing the profession and making the market transparent.

Sharing with Nhan Dan Newspaper, Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Real Estate Brokers Association, said that the brokerage profession has become an indispensable bridge between businesses, investors and customers, but still lacks a unified system of standards for evaluating capacity.

“Current practice certificates mainly assess legal knowledge, but do not fully demonstrate practical capacity, consulting skills and professional ethics. This set of standards can therefore be a comprehensive measure, helping the Vietnamese brokerage profession develop professionally and sustainably,” said Mr. Dinh.

According to the Vietnam Real Estate Brokers Association, the project is built on international standard models (Singapore, Korea, the United States, Australia...) combined with actual surveys of hundreds of businesses, trading floors and individuals practicing in the country. This set of standards is designed as a comprehensive competency framework, reflecting simultaneously knowledge, skills, ethics and practical capacity, compliance with the law, and can measure, evaluate and classify the professional capacity of individuals and organizations.

In particular, the project has the participation of an Expert Advisory Council and an Independent Appraisal Council, bringing together former leaders of state management agencies, leading experts in the fields of finance, economics , real estate, law, and representatives of more than 20 leading enterprises and real estate trading floors in Vietnam such as: Thien Khoi Group, EXIMRS, Queen Land, New City, Dat Xanh Mien Tay, Four Homes, SGO Land, DKRS, DKRA, Tung Bach Land... contributing to ensuring the scientific, objective and feasible nature of the set of standards.

According to the Vietnam Real Estate Brokers Association, the project will be implemented in 6 months (October 2025 - March 2026) with 10 phases, including survey, review, pilot and acceptance. In particular, from November 2025, the association will open a public comment portal for businesses, trading floors, individuals and experts nationwide to participate in reading, reviewing and contributing ideas to the draft set of standards.

Businesses expect the "standard set" to become a guideline for team development.

Commenting on the significance of the project, Ms. Tran Thi Cam Tu, CEO of EXIMRS, said: “A set of professional standards that are systematically developed and recognized by society will be a guideline to help businesses develop a high-quality brokerage team. This is not only a step forward in training, but also a tool for human resource management, brand positioning and enhancing competitiveness for trading floors.”

The Vietnam Association of Realtors believes that, when issued and widely applied, the VREB Standards will become a “professional passport” for the Vietnamese brokerage force, the foundation for the system of training-certification-ranking-honoring the profession. At the same time, this will also be a tool to help state management agencies effectively monitor professional activities, support policy making as well as enhance the confidence of customers and investors.

The project is expected to become an important turning point in the process of professionalizing the Vietnamese real estate brokerage force, contributing to building a transparent market, stable development and international integration.
