There needs to be more effective investment projects in tourism development after the merger.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province, the number of visitors and revenue in October 2025 reached 763,088, up 14.7% over the same period, of which international visitors were estimated at 118,643, up 63.9% over the same period. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 665.7 billion VND, up 18.4% over the same period.
In the first 10 months of 2025, Vinh Long welcomed nearly 7.8 million visitors, of which international visitors reached 1,034,000, up 12.1% over the same period last year, equal to 85.5% of the plan. From now until the end of the year, Vinh Long aims to welcome more than 3.8 million visitors, with total revenue from tourism activities reaching nearly 3,000 billion VND. In 2026, strive to have a total of 10 million visitors to Vinh Long (of which international visitors are about 1.5 million), with revenue of about 9,000 billion VND.

There are 2 effective tourism infrastructure investment projects: (1) The tourism infrastructure investment project for 8 communes along the Tien River (phase 2) has been completed and put into use, continuing to call for investment in the Tan My Con Eco-tourism and Resort Area, Phu Tuc Commune and Qui Con Resort Area, Tan Thach Commune to develop an eco-tourism area associated with the model of community tourism of fruit orchards; (2) Completion of the Tourist Wharf project at the park on the south bank of the Ben Tre River (My Thanh An Commune) with an investment capital of 12.5 billion VND.
Up to now, there have been 23 investment projects in the tourism sector with a total investment of over 6,000 billion VND, of which 5 projects have been completed: Project to build and embellish the Lang Ong complex; Project to preserve, embellish and promote the value of the historical relic of the Ho Chi Minh sea trail in Ben Tre (phase 1); Project to build the Hoan Cau Ben Tre Complex; Project to build the Xoai riverside eco-tourism area; Project to experience the ECOLIFE tourism synergy.
5 completed projects for both business and investment: Forever Green Resort Project; Mekong Seafood Restaurant Project; Lan Vuong 2 Tourist Site Project; Phu Binh Eco-Tourism Site Project; Mekong Resort Project. 4 projects are under investment but not yet completed. 1 project has been given investment policy but has not yet been implemented and 8 projects are requesting investment survey policy.
As for the Project on tourism development in the Vinh Long Passenger Port area with a total estimated amount of 100 billion VND, the Mang Thit Brick and Pottery Kiln Project is continuing to monitor and advise the Provincial People's Committee on ways to preserve and protect to serve tourism development in the coming period; the Cho Lach Cultural Tourism Village Project continues to preside over and coordinate with Cho Lach, Hung Khanh Trung, Vinh Thanh communes, and the industry to propose to the province directions for continuing to implement the Project.
In particular, Vinh Long Passenger Port welcomed a total of 207 groups; a total of 2,924 guests, including 401 international guests and 2,523 domestic guests. The tourism industry organized Famtrips (2 sessions) including Famtrips and the "Connecting tourism to the east of Hau River" seminar to introduce tourist destinations during the "Vu Lan Thang Hoi Festival Week" in Cau Ke commune; Famtrip of the Focus Tourism group to survey linked tourism products, promoting the development of river tourism on the Co Chien River. Participated in the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair - ITE HCMC 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City; Participated in the Tourism and Cuisine Festival combined with the OCOP product trade promotion fair - Rach Gia, An Giang in 2025... contributing to the development of Vinh Long tourism.
Optimizing the potential strengths of each locality
The newly established Vinh Long province was established on the basis of merging the three provinces of Vinh Long, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh from July 1, 2025, with 124 commune-level administrative units, an area of about 6,296.2 km2 and a population of nearly 4,194,633 people. Located in the center of the Mekong Delta, with the advantage of a fresh climate, a cool green environment, crisscrossing rivers and canals, alluvial soil, lush fruit trees all year round; many cultural and historical values are preserved and maintained, and the people are friendly and hospitable. In the future, Vinh Long province aims to promote its existing potentials and invest in typical tourism products aimed at the satisfaction of visitors when they set foot in this land of "good trees, sweet fruits".

Vinh Long province currently has about 1,000 relics, including 3 national treasures, 19 national intangible cultural heritages and over 200 ranked relics, including 2 special national relics, 45 national relics, 67 provincial relics. At the same time, there are many types of tourism such as: agricultural tourism, garden eco-tourism, community tourism, spiritual tourism, etc. Every year, the total number of tourists to the province reaches about 7.25 million. This shows that Vinh Long has great potential in tourism development, attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
Currently, Vinh Long province has more than 130 km of coastline, opening up great opportunities to develop tourism connecting from river to sea, orchards associated with national cultural identity, combined with agricultural economy, craft villages to develop tourism programs to attract tourists.
Typical products such as: Special National Monument of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Tomb and Memorial Site (Ba Tri Commune), Hai Van Farm Tourist Site - Vam Ho Bird Sanctuary (Tan Xuan Commune), Thom River Coconut Floating Market (Mo Cay Commune), Cho Lach Cultural Tourism Village (Cho Lach Commune), Con Chim Community Tourism Site (Hoa Minh Commune), Ao Ba Om National Scenic Relic Site (Nguyet Hoa Ward), Ba Dong Sea (Truong Long Hoa Commune), Khmer Cultural Tourism Village (Song Loc Commune),... Memorial Site of Professor and Academician Tran Dai Nghia (Tam Binh Commune), Van Thanh Temple (Phuoc Hau Ward), Coco Home Coconut House (An Binh Commune), Tra On Floating Market Tourist Site (Luc Sy Thanh Commune), Mang Thit Contemporary Heritage Site (Cai Nhum Commune)... The richness and diversity of tourism products meet the diverse needs of tourists with the current trend.
Making tourism a spearhead economic sector, actively contributing to economic growth
In order to spread the image of local tourism, the province has identified the work of promoting, communicating and advertising the image as one of the key solutions. With the trend of innovation bringing with it values that need to be preserved and maintained, tourism products serving tourists in the current period need to maintain the beauty of natural landscapes, traditional culture and typical tourism products.
Currently, Vinh Long is focusing on promoting digital transformation and enhancing the application of information technology, which is very important because this is considered a suitable solution, adapting to the current situation to promote promotion, access diverse markets, promote local tourism development, provide overviews, and position safe, friendly tourist destinations rich in local cultural identity.
Improving the effectiveness of tourism promotion activities has also been specifically set out in Resolution No. 82/NQ-CP (dated May 18, 2023) and Directive No. 08/CT-TTg (dated February 23, 2024) of the Prime Minister. The Resolution emphasizes important factors in tourism promotion, including: creating breakthroughs, changing mindsets, highlighting brands, etc. Therefore, in recent times, Vinh Long province has proactively participated in many annual and national and international tourism events such as: Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, Vietnam International Tourism Fair - VITM Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair - ITE HCMC, Fairs in Da Nang, Can Tho, etc.
Tourism promotion and advertising should be focused and consistent with the orientation of product and brand development based on research results and forecasts of key markets, in line with the needs and tastes of tourists. From there, promote socialization of promotion and advertising, mobilize cooperation of tourism service business units in the province, diversify types and products, coordinate in depth and become increasingly effective.
Speaking at the working session on the implementation of the Project "Restructuring the tourism industry to meet the requirements of developing into a spearhead economic sector" and the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy to 2030 with the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long in early November 2025, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Phan Linh Chi highly appreciated the initiative, efforts and sense of responsibility of Vinh Long province in implementing the Project on restructuring the tourism industry as well as implementing the goals of the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy to 2030.
The Deputy Director emphasized that in the context of increasingly deep competition and integration, Vinh Long needs to continue promoting local strengths, review and perfect mechanisms and policies to attract investment, and create favorable conditions for businesses and the community to participate in tourism development.
Contributing his comments to the discussion at the 1st Vinh Long Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030, Mr. Duong Hoang Sum - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province emphasized that the tourism industry of Vinh Long province in the next term strives to contribute 6-7% of the province's GRDP by 2030, continue to improve infrastructure, call for investment, restructure tourism products, upgrade infrastructure of tourist areas and spots, and at the same time implement key projects such as the Mekong Delta Agricultural Museum, Con Giong eco-tourism area, Mang Thit brick kiln area, Ba Dong sea tourism project... Diversify products, improve the quality of human resources, apply smart technology in promoting, managing and developing tourism, develop typical products such as river and garden tourism, community tourism, sea tourism combined with wind power sightseeing, eco-tourism, homestay and cultural products, festivals, connect with Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces are determined to turn Vinh Long tourism into a spearhead economic sector, contributing to promoting economic growth in the rising era of the province and the whole country.
