In the final match of the 2025 Korea Masters Badminton Tournament with Chiu Pin-Chian (Chinese Taipei, world No. 20, seed No. 1), Thuy Linh (world No. 24, seed No. 2) continued to show that she has no luck with the Super 300 level title.
In set 1, the two players played a dramatic tug-of-war. Chiu Pin-Chian showed her resilience, which allowed her to make some difficult cross-court plays. Meanwhile, Thuy Linh's strength was her persistence and tenacity. The Vietnamese player did not get into the rhythm well in the first few minutes, but gradually figured out her opponent's moves. Both players took turns scoring points, causing the score to last until 12-12. However, at the end of the set, Thuy Linh showed signs of mental fatigue when she lacked precision, thanks to which Chiu Pin-Chian pulled away and won 21-16.
Entering set 2, Thuy Linh could no longer maintain the same playing state as at the beginning of set 1. She continuously made mistakes and gradually lost confidence. Meanwhile, the Chinese Taipei player took advantage of the opportunity, creating safe gaps before winning 21-15, closing the final victory 2-0 and becoming the women's singles champion of the 2025 Korean Masters badminton tournament.
Losing in the end, Thuy Linh accepted to finish second in the tournament. This was Thuy Linh's fourth loss in a final match of the BWF World Tour Super 300 system.
Since the beginning of 2025, Thuy Linh has reached 4 women's singles finals: German Open 2025, Canada Open 2025, Vietnam Open 2025 and now Masters 2025 in Korea.
With the runner-up title, Thuy Linh received a prize of 9,120 USD (about 230 million VND) and 5,950 ranking points from the Badminton World Federation (BWF). Although she has not been able to touch the championship title, Thuy Linh's stable performance and resilient fighting spirit continue to help her affirm her position as the top player in Southeast Asia and the biggest hope for Vietnamese badminton in the international arena.
The Korea Masters, part of the BWF World Tour Super 300 series, will take place from November 4 to 9 in Iksan, Jeonbuk Province, central Korea. Due to the withdrawal of top players such as Kim Ga Eun (Korea) and Manami Suizu (Japan), Thuy Linh is seeded No. 2.
