In this training session, head coach Diego Giustozzi continues to maintain the stable squad that has been established in recent times, with many players with international experience.
The team welcomes the return of two veteran players Tran Thai Huy and Ngo Ngoc Son, who played an important role in the journey of bringing Vietnamese futsal to the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2016 for the first time. However, Ngo Ngoc Son could not participate in the 33rd SEA Games due to personal reasons. Coach Diego Giustozzi called up young player Nguyen Hoang Quan (Thai Son Nam Ho Chi Minh City) to replace him.
In addition, the Argentine coach gave a chance to rookie Nguyen Tien Hung, a young and promising player who grew up from the Thai Son Nam Ho Chi Minh City training center. This player was recently voted the best player of the Ho Chi Minh City U20 Futsal Open 2025 and is expected to increase the competitiveness of the squad, while bringing a new breath of life in the preparation phase for the 33rd SEA Games.
Before this gathering, the Vietnamese futsal team had an impressive performance at the 2026 Asian Futsal Qualifiers with three wins against Lebanon, China and Hong Kong (China), topping Group E with 20 goals and only conceding three times.
This achievement reflects the team’s thorough preparation over the past period. From mid-March to early April, the team played four quality international friendlies, winning two against Saudi Arabia (2-1, 3-2), and winning one and drawing one against Kazakhstan (4-1, 2-2), helping to strengthen their spirit and confidence before the big goals.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese futsal team will train in Ho Chi Minh City until December 10 before leaving for Thailand. The men's futsal event of the 33rd SEA Games will have the participation of five teams: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar, competing in a round-robin to determine the rankings.
With careful preparation, a stable force and high determination, the Vietnamese futsal team aims to be in the top two teams, continuing to affirm its position in the regional arena.
