According to Ms. Hoang Le Na, Director of the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank (SPB) of Son Duong, the transaction office of the SPB of Son Duong is implementing 19 credit programs with a total outstanding loan balance of VND950.2 billion, providing loans to 17,056 poor households, near-poor households and policy beneficiaries to develop the economy , reduce poverty sustainably, contribute to the construction of new rural areas and ensure social security in localities.
Previously, Ms. Le Thi Luan's family in Tan Bac residential group, Son Duong commune only used dug well water, which was dry in the dry season and muddy in the rainy season, posing many potential health risks. At the end of 2024, with the guidance of the Tan Bac residential group's savings and loan group, her family applied for a loan of 50 million VND under the clean water and environmental sanitation program of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to drill a deep well, install a filter tank and build a storage tank. Ms. Luan shared: Now, my family has clean water to use all year round, no longer worries about illness or water shortages, and the quality of life has also improved a lot.
Also receiving a loan from the Social Policy Bank to invest in building a water tank for daily life, Mr. Khuong Anh Tu, Tan Hong village, Son Duong commune, said: Many years ago, my family had to rely on water from wells for daily life. In the dry season, the amount of water was low, and in some years, the weather changed and the well ran dry. For a whole month, my family had to go around asking for water from each barrel to use, which was very difficult.
At the end of 2024, Mr. Tu boldly borrowed 50 million VND from the clean water and environmental sanitation loan program of the Social Policy Bank to invest in building a water tank, buying tanks and water pipes. With the family's savings, Mr. Tu built a clean and convenient closed toilet. Thanks to that, the water source for daily life is guaranteed, and the closed toilet area helps protect the environment and ensure the health of family members.
According to Ms. Luong Thi Uyen, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Son Duong Commune, thanks to preferential capital, the rate of households in the commune with standard sanitation facilities increased to over 92%; the rate of households using hygienic water reached nearly 97%. Clean water facilities not only improve household life but also help limit pollution, protect the environment and prevent epidemics, especially during heat waves and stormy seasons, contributing to helping the commune achieve environmental criterion No. 17 in new rural construction.
Thanks to loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, over the past four years, many tea-growing households in Tan Trao commune have installed automatic irrigation systems to facilitate care and increase crop productivity.

Staff of the Son Duong Social Policy Bank Transaction Office visited the tea garden of Mr. Doan Van Thanh's family (brown shirt) in Trung Long village, Tan Trao commune.
Mr. Doan Van Thanh, Trung Long village, Tan Trao commune said: My family has more than 5 sao of tea plantation. In previous years, it took about 1-2 hours with 1-2 workers to move the pump and pump hose to water the entire tea garden. Because of the hard work, in 2023, I decided to apply for a loan of 50 million VND from the Son Duong Social Policy Bank to invest in an automatic sprinkler irrigation system for the entire area of my family's tea garden.
According to Mr. Thanh, this system helps save 30-50% of water used compared to manual watering methods, helping to save time and labor. In particular, because the water is distributed evenly, the plants also grow better.
As for Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong's family in Vi Lang village, Phu Luong commune, thanks to a loan of 70 million VND from the Son Duong Social Policy Bank under the production development loan support program, Ms. Phuong's family has invested in installing an automatic watering system for more than 5 sao of vegetables. Instead of having to get up early to carry water to water the vegetables, now Ms. Phuong only needs to press a button on her phone, and the system will water the entire field. The vegetables are cared for properly, watered sufficiently, and the yield and quality of the vegetables have improved significantly.
Ms. Hoang Le Na, Director of the Son Duong Social Policy Bank Transaction Office, said: Currently, the maximum loan amount for poor households is 100 million VND, with an interest rate of only 6.6%/year, and a loan term of up to 10 years; for near-poor households, it is 7.92%/year. For the production and business loan program in difficult areas, households can also borrow 100 million VND/household, with an interest rate of 9%/year. Preferential loan programs for poor households, near-poor households, newly escaped poverty households, and loans for production development in difficult areas all allow people to use them to invest in equipment for agricultural production; including modern irrigation systems. Low interest rates, long loan terms, and no mortgage requirements are great advantages that help people boldly innovate.
In the coming time, the Transaction Office will continue to coordinate with entrusted socio -political organizations, and commune-based loan groups to regularly urge, inspect, and supervise the implementation to ensure that loans are used for the right beneficiaries; thereby helping poor and near-poor households have access to preferential capital to develop production, business, and build works serving daily life, etc. Thereby, helping households increase their income, sustainably reduce poverty, and build new rural areas in the locality./.
