Hon Gai Mechanical Factory (now Hon Gai Mechanical Joint Stock Company) was established on August 1, 1960 - the predecessor was the Main Machine Workshop, established in 1889 to serve the coal mining of the French mine owner. After we took over the mine (April 1955), the workers of the Main Machine Workshop - Hon Gai Mechanical Factory quickly stabilized production, serving the reconstruction and coal exploitation in the Mining Area. Hon Gai Mechanical Joint Stock Company is perhaps a rare place in the Coal industry that still has mechanical machines from the time when the French mine owners operated. Many machines are over 100 years old but still play an important role in the Company's production line.
The steel pipe bending machine was produced in the late 19th century. It looks old but plays an important role in production today. The hydraulic press manufactured in 1889 is still working well. The slotting machine was also made by Somua in the late 19th century, specializing in creating holes for structures. Mr. Dinh Van Loi is using a hammer machine manufactured in 1928. It is worth mentioning that this machine was used by his father - Mr. Dinh Van Phuc during his years as a worker at Hon Gai Mechanical Engineering. The brand name on the machines is still intact. In addition, at the Hon Gai Mechanical Workshop, there are still many machines manufactured in the 60s and 70s of the last century, aided by the Soviet Union and Romania, that are still in operation.
