Lao Cai province currently has 1 special national scenic relic, 34 national relics, 172 provincial relics, 4 representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity and 56 national intangible cultural heritages.
In the period of 2020 - 2025, the province has restored and embellished 18 national relics, mobilizing more than 235 billion VND from the budget and socialization. The relics invested in restoration and embellishment have gradually brought positive results, many revolutionary historical relics have become red addresses, places for political and ideological education, revolutionary traditions for the younger generation; many cultural historical relics and scenic spots have become attractive tourist destinations, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit, explore and worship, contributing to increasing revenue for the relics.

The work of preserving and teaching intangible cultural values, such as Thai Xoe art, Then practice, Tug of War rituals, and Mother Goddess worship, has been focused on, contributing to spreading traditional cultural values in the community. Many activities of collecting, restoring, and promoting festivals, ethnic costumes, folk songs, and folk dances have been organized regularly.
The collection, inventory and preservation of artifacts at Lao Cai Provincial Museum have always been given attention and focus, and the number of artifacts has been constantly supplemented. By the end of 2024, the Provincial Museum currently holds over 30,000 documents and artifacts, many of which are rare. Every year, the Provincial Museum has attracted over 20,000 visitors to visit, research, learn and study about the history of the Party, the history of society, nature and culture of ethnic groups in the province.
In particular, Lao Cai is one of the leading localities in applying digital transformation in the field of cultural heritage, when digitizing more than 1,000 museum artifacts, building 3D virtual tour models for relics and developing software to manage and exploit heritage data for tourism .
In the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province will continue to promote investment and mobilize social resources for the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage associated with sustainable tourism development, contributing to building Lao Cai into a unique cultural and tourism center in the Northwest region.
