In the context of the economy forecast to grow strongly, electricity demand may increase by 12-13% in the following years, using energy economically and efficiently becomes an urgent command. Therefore, on April 14, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade launched the Electricity Saving Propaganda Contest to spread initiatives, ideas and actions from every family, school, business and community.
The contest aims to raise awareness of the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy, Directive 20/CT-TTg dated June 8, 2023 on enhancing electricity saving in the 2023-2025 period, the National Program on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy in the 2019-2030 period (VNEEP3) ... thereby widely disseminating to all social classes; encouraging creativity in propaganda, introducing models and stories through theatrical forms such as: Drama, comedy, poetry, music... about electricity saving.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, sectors, localities and businesses actively participated in responding through directive documents and creative activities.
The enthusiastic and diverse participation from households, schools, businesses... has proven that the message of saving electricity is spreading and being put into action. Thanks to that, each work is not just a "contest" but a call to action, spreading to the community.
From the launch to the submission deadline, the Organizing Committee received 130 works of short essays on electricity saving from electricity companies, schools, agencies, units and many individuals nationwide.
The works participating in the award are presented in many diverse forms: Comedy, drama, poetry, music combined with the rustic, genuine acting of electricians, students, people, teachers, doctors...
Many works apply AI technology in character building, combined with songs and poems composed by the contestants themselves.
With a spirit of serious and urgent work, the Organizing Committee selected 120 works for the preliminary round for the jury, which are prestigious experts in the fields of culture, art and energy, to judge, thereby selecting 90 works for the preliminary round and 56 works for the final round.
It is expected that the Organizing Committee will select 22 best works that meet the criteria of the Contest to award prizes in November 2025.
According to the jury, although it was the first time the competition was held, the works clearly showed the overall picture of the Vietnamese electricity industry, especially the difficulties and challenges in electricity supply, thereby conveying the message about the need to increase electricity savings as well as efficient use of electricity. The participating units also promoted their creativity, invested in elaborate scripts, carefully selected roles, and presented realistic situations close to life to convey the message about saving electricity and saving energy.
