According to the Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, storm No. 13 is the strongest storm to hit the province in decades, with winds of level 10-12, gusts of level 14, a wide area of influence, fast movement, causing serious damage to people and property.

“In the emergency situation, the province activated a remote response plan, early and at a higher level; established a forward command post, mobilized armed forces on duty 24/7, evacuated more than 90,000 households with more than 300,000 people according to the fastest but safest motto. In the middle of the storm, the forces rescued more than 200 people from collapsed houses and deep flooded areas, minimizing human loss,” said Mr. Pham Anh Tuan.

Although human losses were limited, the storm caused severe damage to infrastructure and homes. Hundreds of houses collapsed, tens of thousands had their roofs blown off or damaged; many schools, hospitals, electricity, water and communication systems were destroyed; thousands of hectares of rice, crops, boats and fish cages were swept away.
In particular, the coastal area of Quy Nhon city - the economic , social and tourist center of the province, once honored as "ASEAN Clean Tourism City" and ranked in the top 25 most attractive destinations in the world in 2026 according to Lonely Planet, has now been severely damaged by storms.
According to preliminary statistics, the damage caused by storm No. 13 is about 5,200 billion VND, but the actual damage may be even greater.

In the appeal letter, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan requested the entire political system to ensure food, accommodation, clean water, and medicine for the people; urgently repair essential infrastructure; the armed forces play a key role in supporting the rebuilding of houses, opening traffic routes, and maintaining security and order; and the business community join hands to support resources and means to help people restore production. The people of all ethnic groups in the province uphold the spirit of self-reliance and solidarity, help each other overcome the consequences, do not wait or rely on others, and at the same time maintain environmental hygiene and prevent epidemics after the storm.
Urgent tasks set by the province include: ensuring social security, preventing people from going hungry, lacking clean water, or having no shelter; restoring traffic, electricity, telecommunications, schools, and hospitals; providing proper, sufficient, and timely support, and absolutely preventing loss or negativity.

In the long term, the province has identified two parallel tasks: fundamentally and sustainably overcoming the consequences of natural disasters; restoring production, developing socio-economy, striving to complete and exceed the 2025 targets, maintaining the double-digit growth target for the 2026-2030 period, and building Gia Lai to develop rapidly and sustainably.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan said that the work to overcome the consequences of storm No. 13 is being urgently deployed by the entire political system of the province, and the situation is gradually stabilizing.
“We prioritize the restoration of the education and health systems, first of all to welcome students back to school soon. The storm severely damaged the transportation and electricity systems, at one point 98% of the province lost power. However, by this evening (November 10), 90% of the problems have been fixed, and are expected to be completed tomorrow (November 11),” Mr. Pham Anh Tuan informed.
At the same time, the province is focusing on supporting households whose houses have collapsed or been damaged, with the consistent guiding principle of "not letting people go hungry or have no place to live".
