Speaking at the press conference, Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy emphasized that the conference was organized to affirm the correct strategic policy of the Politburo, the Central Military Commission, and President Ho Chi Minh to direct our army and people to overcome all difficulties and challenges, be ready to defeat the "local war" of the US imperialists, and be determined to fight and defeat the US to bring the cause of national reunification to success.

Drawing on historical lessons and valuable experiences in leadership, strategic command, the art of organization and campaign practice; the process of close coordination and cooperation between forces in campaign operations; applying to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern army; building a strong all-people national defense, developing the country in the new era of the nation.

The workshop aims to educate cadres, party members, soldiers and people to promote the tradition of patriotism, self-reliance, and emulation, contributing with the entire Party, people and army to successfully carry out the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Colonel Le Thanh Bai, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History, informed about The content of the workshop includes: Analysis of the context, international and domestic situation; plots and tricks of the US imperialists and the Saigon puppet regime; the capabilities and response measures of the US imperialists and the Saigon puppet regime; US and world public opinion against the attacks of our army and people through each development stage of the Plei Me Campaign.

Clarifying the Party Central Committee's guidelines, viewpoints, and policies in leading and directing the resistance war against the US to save the country; the correct and timely decisions of the Central Military Commission, the General Command, and the Central Highlands Front Command in launching the Plei Me Campaign, aiming to find a way to fight and defeat the US, affirming the determination to defeat the invading US imperialists.

Affirming the important role, strategic significance and fundamental causes for the victory of the Plei Me Campaign; lessons learned on the art of leadership and command of the campaign; large-scale concentrated operations; creative application to practice in building the all-people national defense and people's war posture in the new development era of the Vietnamese nation.

As planned, the conference was held on November 18 in Gia Lai province. The conference received 80 presentations from leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, experts and scientists. The presentations were published in the People's Army Publishing House.

On the sidelines of the workshop, the Organizing Committee will present gifts to 5 policy families in Pleiku ward, Gia Lai province; and offer incense at the Gia Lai province Martyrs Cemetery.
