The practice session at the firing site of the units of Brigade 434 began with many stages. When the cannons were aimed at the target, commanders at all levels organized to check the accuracy of the firing elements, the responsibility of each gunner and the coordination work within the battery; from there, promptly remind, correct and rectify the troops.

Sergeant Tran Hoang Khanh, Battery Commander of Company 1, Battalion 1, confided: “BM-21 is a modern rocket artillery with great lethality, so during the operation, we are always meticulous, careful, and closely coordinated within the battery. Each gunner must firmly grasp his responsibilities, master his movements, and immediately overcome limitations and shortcomings when pointed out by superiors.”

The BM-21 rocket artillery battery of Battalion 1, Brigade 434 (Army Corps 34) practices maneuvering to capture the battlefield.

With the characteristics of the Artillery Corps being both a combat and a technical branch, over the years, Brigade 434 has always attached importance to basic training, close to actual combat; taking training and fostering of cadres as the key step, specialized training as the focus; strictly maintaining the training regime and order at all levels, constantly innovating training management and operation methods; actively applying information technology, initiatives, and technical improvements to training practices and combat readiness (SSCD). Cadres at all levels have increased inspections, organized competitions and sports events, especially the "Excellent Artillery Officer Training" competition, weekly and monthly sports events to improve the quality of practical training for troops.

Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Van Liem, Deputy Brigade Commander, Chief of Staff of Brigade 434, said: “As a unit that manages and trains strong firepower on the battlefield, playing an important role in campaign operations, our unit always attaches importance to the quality of practice, the operational skills of each individual and the coordination work of the squad. Therefore, during the training process, commanders at all levels always place high demands on accuracy, operational time and quick mobility; at the same time, the squad staff always closely helps soldiers overcome all difficulties and obstacles in performing tasks. For difficult movements that require individual techniques, the training staff will do them first, demonstrate them, and then carefully guide the soldiers to follow to ensure consistency and proficiency in skills. Thanks to that, the training quality of the Brigade is constantly improved.”

During the training process, the unit implemented the motto "basic, practical, solid" well; focused on training soldiers in many weather and terrain conditions, close to combat situations, ensuring quick mobility, ready to carry out tasks when combat situations occur. Units adhered to the regulation "correct where mistakes are made", correcting with verbal commands and sample movements so that soldiers could easily understand and apply. As training progressed, quality was checked and evaluated accordingly. Platoon and company levels conducted experience review at the end of each training day, while battalion levels organized it weekly.

In indirect firing artillery units, there is often a system of observation stations and firing positions with many departments, such as: Reconnaissance, measurement, information, gunners... Therefore, the organization of tight training for each branch is carried out comprehensively and in-depth by Brigade 434, actively training on new equipment and weapons, strengthening night training, long-distance maneuver training with towed artillery, training in conditions where the enemy uses high-tech weapons. However, the coordination factor between squads, departments, between observation stations and firing positions is always considered important in the spirit of "solidarity, coordination, collective achievements". The joint training is also organized methodically and tightly from the Brigade to each battery, ensuring unity, quality, and closeness to reality.

Colonel Nguyen Viet Hung, Brigade Commander of Brigade 434, emphasized: The quality of the unit's training is not only reflected in the bravery, command and situation handling capacity of the cadres, but also in the operational level, coordination and mobility of the soldiers and squads. Therefore, the Brigade organizes comprehensive training associated with specialization, with focus, key points, and close to the specific tasks of each squad; in which, taking specialized technical training as the basis, tactical training as the center, and cadre training as the key step. Combining tactical training with practicing mobility, combat readiness and coordination plans; promoting the application of models, initiatives, and information technology in training, contributing to enhancing the overall strength of the unit, meeting well the requirements of combat readiness in all situations.
