Under the meticulous care of officers and soldiers, apricot blossoms not only bring fresh beauty to the barracks, but also become a symbol of optimism, will to rise and belief in victory of the soldiers.

Soldiers of Division 9 take care of the apricot garden.

On the road leading to Regiment 1 (Division 9), rows of yellow apricot flowers interspersed with beds of portulaca, chrysanthemums, and bougainvillea along the internal roads, make the space seem to light up.

In the early morning sunshine, soldiers took advantage of their break to water and prune branches. The bustling, cheerful atmosphere seemed to signal that Spring was approaching.

Corporal Ho Hoang Phuong, Company 12, Battalion 3, Regiment 1 (Division 9) shared: “We planted this apricot tree in early 2024. Seeing it bud and bloom with bright yellow flowers, everyone feels happy and proud. Every time I take care of the flowers, I feel like the unit is my second home.”

Not only is it a landscape beautification activity, the “Greening the Barracks” movement has become a cultural beauty of the officers and soldiers of Division 9. Each flower bed, bonsai pot, and fruit garden is scientifically planned and regularly cared for. Many units also organize competitions for “Green, clean, beautiful Barracks” and “Soldiers’ Apricot Flower Pots”, creating a driving force for exciting competition throughout the Division.

Colonel Pham Van Hong, Deputy Political Commissar of Division 9, shared: “The unit chose the apricot tree as one of the main ornamental flowers, because it is a symbol of Spring, of the vitality and indomitable spirit of the soldiers. The apricot tree grows on dry, rocky soil, is easy to grow and care for, and has a high drought tolerance. Growing flowers and trees also contributes to building a healthy military cultural environment, creating beautiful landscapes, and improving the spiritual life of soldiers.”

Soldiers of Regiment 2, Division 9 carefully and meticulously take care of the apricot tree.

From the residential area, the hall to the vegetable garden, everywhere there are flowers. Among them, the apricot pots and apricot trees are specially cared for to bloom in time for the traditional Tet holiday, bringing a warm and cozy atmosphere to the unit. Each yellow apricot canopy reminds the officers and soldiers to maintain their faith, their spirit of enthusiastic training, and their readiness to receive and complete all assigned tasks well.

Not only stopping at planting and tending flowers, the movement also contributes to forming awareness of preserving the living environment, building a regular and tidy lifestyle in each officer and soldier. Anywhere in the barracks, one can see the image of the soldiers' hands diligently sweeping leaves, pruning trees, and tilling the soil - small tasks but of great significance.

Soldier Nguyen Duy Quan, Company 3, Battalion 1 (Regiment 1) shared: “Planting and caring for flowers is like training yourself. You have to be patient and meticulous every day. When you see the flowers bloom, you can clearly feel the collective effort and camaraderie.”

Thanks to the attention and close direction of the Party Committee and the Division Commander, the flower and ornamental plant growing model in Division 9 has spread more and more widely. Each unit and each platoon has become a "green campus" bearing the mark of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era - disciplined, exemplary, bright, green, clean and beautiful.

Since the beginning of 2025, officers and soldiers of Division 9 have planted more than 3,600 apricot trees and pots and more than 4,000 fruit trees of various kinds.

Amidst the space filled with the yellow color of apricot flowers, the laughter of soldiers resounded clearly, blending with the bustling sounds of the training ground, Division 9 - where apricot flowers not only bloom in the barracks, but also bloom in the hearts of each soldier - flowers of faith, love for the Fatherland and determination to excellently complete all assigned tasks.
