Nguyen Hai Dang, a student of Class 5/3, Thai Binh Trung Primary School (Tuyen Binh Commune, Tay Ninh Province), is also one of the cases that received special attention. Dang's mother is seriously ill and has to undergo dialysis, and his father is a hired worker with no stable job. His family's life is extremely difficult. Knowing that, officers and soldiers of Long Khot Border Guard Station and volunteer organizations joined hands to provide material support and spiritual encouragement so that Dang could have the conditions to study. He emotionally shared: "I am grateful to the border guards who have always been by my side. I promise to be a good boy and study well so as not to let everyone down."
Entering the 2025-2026 school year, Long Khot Border Guard Station continues to sponsor 6 students with difficult circumstances, including 2 students from Tuyen Binh commune, 2 students from Khanh Hung commune, 2 students from border communes in neighboring Cambodia. In particular, the scholarships awarded across the border not only help the students on the path of knowledge but also foster solidarity and friendship between the people of both sides, so that the border is always filled with children's laughter.
Along with the regular support of the unit, Long Khot Border Guard Station also actively mobilizes organizations, individuals and businesses to join the program. In the 2025-2026 school year, Ms. Duong Thi Thuy, Director of Tan Thai Thinh Investment, Trade and Service Joint Stock Company (Tay Ninh province), sponsored 6 students with especially difficult circumstances in Tuyen Binh commune, with a support level of 6 million VND/student/year. Although the amount is not large, it helps the students have books, clothes and motivation to continue going to school, nurturing their aspirations to rise up. Thanks to the support and help, many students who were at risk of dropping out of school have now returned to class, continuing their dreams.
Assessing the effectiveness of the program, Mr. Vo Hong Linh, Vice Chairman of Tuyen Binh Commune People's Committee, said: "The activities implemented by Long Khot Border Guard Station have brought about practical results, helping many poor students to continue their studies. This is not only material support but also a great source of spiritual encouragement for disadvantaged families. The local government highly appreciates the sense of responsibility and dedication of the Border Guard and the kindness of the benefactors. We hope that the program will be expanded so that many other poor students have the opportunity to go to school."
For nearly 10 years, Long Khot Border Guard Station has sponsored and helped dozens of poor students in the area. Many of them have now grown up, gone on to higher education, and become shining examples for their friends to follow. Lieutenant Colonel Do Van Long, Political Commissar of Long Khot Border Guard Station, shared: “Each student we sponsor is a joy, a responsibility that we are attached to for a long time. The children are like children and siblings in the family, needing to be loved and protected to grow up.”
Those simple yet meaningful actions of officers and soldiers of Long Khot Border Post not only contribute to helping poor students in the border area but also spread the spirit of humanity and responsibility of soldiers in green uniforms, so that love will forever bloom in the border of the Fatherland./.
