At Chu Van An Secondary School, although located in the center of Hue City, this flood also caused severe inundation. Students have been out of school for more than two weeks. The soldiers had just finished cleaning up last week, but the following week, heavy rains and rising floodwaters submerged the entire school. Officers and soldiers of Regiment 6 continued to march back to the school with teachers to clean up the flood.
Teacher Le Thi Hong Giang, Principal of Chu Van An Secondary School, was moved: “The soldiers did not mind the hardships and difficulties, cleaning up from early morning to late at night. With the huge amount of garbage, if the soldiers did not help in time, the school does not know when the students can return to school…”.
Lieutenant Colonel Ta Van Tu, Political Commissar of Regiment 6, said: “These past few days, officers and soldiers have been working with the utmost urgency, helping people clean up the environment and overcome the consequences of the great flood. Last week, we had just completed our mission and returned to the joyful and emotional people, but this week the flood waters rose again. All the efforts of the soldiers were suddenly swept away by the floodwaters, but we encouraged them not to falter, to try their best so that students could return to school soon and people could stabilize their lives.”
