According to the latest information from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) at 8:00 a.m. on November 8, typhoon Fung-wong (Phoenix) had the strongest wind near the storm center of 130km/h (level 12), gusts of 160km/h (level 14).

Typhoon Phoenix is about 900km east of the Visayas, Philippines, moving mainly west-northwest at a speed of about 25km/h.

Pagasa forecasts that on the night of November 9 and early morning of November 10, typhoon Phoenix may make landfall in the south of Isabela Island or the northern part of Aurora Island (Philippines) and then enter the East Sea.

Weather experts in the Philippines say that in the next 12-24 hours, typhoon Fung-wong will rapidly intensify and could reach super typhoon status early tomorrow morning (November 9).

According to the latest forecast from the Taiwan Meteorological Agency (China) on November 10, Typhoon Fung-wong will move near Luzon Island (Philippines) and then enter the East Sea. This station forecasts that on the morning of November 11, the storm will turn northward, approaching the southern area of the Taiwan Strait.

On November 12, typhoon Phoenix is expected to move close to the coast of Taiwan (China). By November 13, the storm will gradually weaken and move out to the northeastern sea, away from Taiwan.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said the strongest winds near the center of the storm are up to 130km/h. The station forecast that by early morning on November 9, Typhoon Phoenix could reach super typhoon level with winds up to 185km/h (level 16) when approaching Luzon Island (Philippines).

The Japan Meteorological Agency also forecasts that after passing Luzon Island into the East Sea, Typhoon Phoenix is likely to change direction and move north, affecting Taiwan (China) and gradually weakening. By November 11, the strongest wind near the center of the storm will be about 130km/h.

It can be seen that the forecasts of international meteorological agencies all agree that typhoon Fung-wong may follow a parabolic trajectory. After passing Luzon Island (Philippines), the typhoon may change direction to the North, directly affecting Taiwan (China).

In the next 12-24 hours, the storm will intensify violently and may reach super storm level (level 16, 185km/h) early tomorrow morning (November 9).

Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, forecasts that in the next 2-3 days, storm Phuong Hoang will mainly move in the West-Northwest direction towards Lu Dong Island (Philippines) and then may enter the Northeast of the East Sea.

It is forecasted that around dawn on November 11, the storm will enter the East Sea, becoming the 14th storm in the East Sea this year.

According to initial assessments by experts and regional meteorological agencies, typhoon Phuong Hoang is unlikely to enter our country, but domestic meteorological agencies are still closely monitoring the storm's developments to issue timely warnings and forecasts.

The name Fung-wong, proposed by Hong Kong (China), is the name of a mountain in Hong Kong, which means Phoenix in Vietnamese.
