On November 7, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting - said that currently off the eastern coast of the Philippines, there is storm Phuong Hoang active.

According to Mr. Huong, the name of the storm proposed by Hong Kong is the name of a mountain in Hong Kong, which in Vietnamese means Phoenix.

This morning, typhoon Phuong Hoang is at level 11 (103-117km/h) and is about 1,800km east-southeast of Luzon and about 2,100km from the East Sea.

It is forecasted that in the next 2-3 days, typhoon Phuong Hoang will move west-northwest, towards Luzon Island and the northeast of the East Sea.

In terms of intensity, the storm is forecast to continue to strengthen, with the storm's intensity before making landfall in Luzon likely reaching level 14-15 (150-183km/h) - equivalent to the intensity of the recent storm Kalmaegi.

Around the night of November 10 to the morning of November 11, storm Phuong Hoang may enter the northeastern East Sea, most likely this will be the 14th storm in the East Sea this year.

"The initial assessment is that the possibility of the storm making landfall in our country is not high. However, from now until November 10 and 11, atmospheric circulation will still fluctuate, so the meteorological agency will continue to monitor to make timely forecasts and warnings," said Mr. Huong.

According to the forecast of the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), this afternoon, typhoon Phuong Hoang is at level 11 (30m/s), gusting to level 14 (45m/s).

JMA forecasts that in the coming days, the storm will head towards Luzon Island (Philippines), then enter the East Sea, then change direction to the north, towards China.

JMA also said that before making landfall in the Philippines, typhoon Phuong Hoang could reach wind speeds of 50m/s (level 15), gusts of 70m/s (above level 17). When entering the East Sea, the storm's intensity could be level 12 (35m/s), gusts of level 15 (50m/s).

Hong Kong Radio also has the same opinion about the storm's movement direction before and after entering the East Sea.

Regarding intensity, Hong Kong radio said that before making landfall on Luzon Island, typhoon Phoenix could strengthen into a super typhoon with winds of 195km/h (level 16). When entering the East Sea, the storm would be at level 13 (145km/h), then gradually weaken.
