At the propaganda session, officers of Phuoc Thuan Border Guard Station disseminated legal regulations on exploitation and protection of aquatic resources; prohibited acts in fishing activities; regulations on installation and maintenance of voyage monitoring equipment, marking fishing vessels and recording fishing logs. Border Guard officers also informed people about the consequences and negative impacts of violations of regulations against IUU fishing, especially the impact on the reputation and benefits of Vietnam's seafood exports.
In addition to the content of combating IUU fishing, Phuoc Thuan Border Guard Station also focuses on propaganda and instructing fishermen to proactively monitor weather developments and storms at sea to promptly prevent, avoid, and take shelter from storms safely. Unit officers provide guidance on emergency handling skills, maintain contact with the mainland and functional forces when incidents occur, contributing to ensuring the safety of life and property during the storm season.
Within the framework of the program, Phuoc Thuan Border Guard Station distributed leaflets on combating IUU fishing and gave life jackets to fishermen, demonstrating the spirit of companionship and support for people to confidently go out to sea and stick to the sea.
Major Bui Dinh Tam, Political Commissar of Phuoc Thuan Border Guard Station, said: “In the coming time, the unit will continue to strengthen coordination with functional forces and vessels operating at sea, creating close connections in management, supervision, timely prevention and suppression of violations of regulations against IUU fishing. Thereby, contributing to the whole country in strictly implementing the Prime Minister's direction, joining hands to remove the "yellow card" of the European Commission, while ensuring absolute safety for fishermen during the rainy and stormy season."
Propaganda activities contribute to raising awareness and law compliance among fishermen, strengthening the close relationship between the Border Guard and people in coastal border areas, joining hands to protect sovereignty and develop a sustainable marine economy.
