"The numbers are crazy," coach Pep Guardiola said ahead of his 1,000th career match when Man City will host Liverpool at Etihad Stadium at 11:30 p.m. tomorrow (November 9, Vietnam time).
The Spanish strategist led Barcelona and Bayern Munich before taking on the role of "captain" of Man City, winning 715 out of 999 matches and winning countless titles for all three clubs.

The match between Man City and Liverpool will be the 1,000th match of Pep Guardiola's career - a milestone that only veteran coaches like Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger or Neil Warnock have reached.
"I don't think I've lived to think about the number of times I've managed, but when you get there and read about what I've done... the wins, the dramatic draws, not just in the Premier League and Champions League, especially what I've done at Barcelona, it's incredible.
So, it's very difficult to reach this milestone. If I had to start over, I wouldn't believe I could achieve it," coach Pep Guardiola said about the big milestone in his career.
Guardiola, who took over the "hot seat" at Etihad Stadium in 2016, also said that Liverpool has always been a tough opponent for Man City as the two clubs have dominated English football over the past decade, sharing eight Premier League titles together.
"Of course, Barcelona had a clear impact on my life as a ball boy, footballer, coach. Of course, Bayern Munich was also an incredible step forward.
But Liverpool, especially with former coach Jurgen Klopp, are my biggest rivals in this country. Honestly, it couldn't be better," coach Pep Guardiola said.
Man Utd's legendary coach, Alex Ferguson (who has had more than 2,000 matches as coach in his illustrious career) also congratulated Pep Guardiola.
“His deep love and passion for football was always evident and he should be very proud of the indelible impact he continues to make globally.
Reaching 1,000 games and achieving such longevity in football is a milestone that cannot be underestimated and to go on to win the league, Champions League and domestic cups in three of Europe's most competitive competitions is fantastic," Sir Alex Ferguson affirmed.
