2025 Asian Esports Championship kicks off in Can Tho

From November 19-22, the Esports Championships Asia 2025 (ECA 2025) will officially kick off in Can Tho city. This continental-scale event is considered an important milestone in the journey to affirm Vietnam's position on the international esports map.

ECA 2025 is an international friendly tournament co-organized by the Vietnam E-Sports Entertainment Association (VIRESA) and the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City, bringing together about 100 athletes from 07 countries, including China, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. The official competitions include League of Legends, CrossFire and the performance sport is Stepin digital sports choreography.

In addition to the top competitions, ECA also brings a series of rich activities, including a business connection program, an international cooperation signing ceremony and a seminar on Asian e-sports. The event also connects e-sports and digital sports with the promotion of local culture and tourism , contributing to spreading the image of a dynamic and creative Vietnam in the digital age.

According to Mr. Do Viet Hung - Vice President of the Asian E-Sports Federation, President of VIRESA, Can Tho city was chosen to host ECA 2025 because it has many outstanding advantages. "Can Tho is located in the center of the Mekong Delta, possessing modern sports and tourism infrastructure and a riverine identity imbued with Western culture.

"The city is considered the 'heart of the Mekong' - a place where tradition and modernity, culture, technology and hospitable people intersect. It is this harmony that makes Can Tho an ideal destination for an Asian-scale e-sports tournament - where e-sports is not only a stage for talent but also a cultural bridge, promoting tourism and inspiring creativity among young people," Mr. Hung emphasized.

More than just a sports tournament, ECA 2025 is of strategic significance to Vietnam, opening up opportunities to promote the development of the digital culture and entertainment industry, enhancing international cooperation and cultural diplomacy, while attracting investment from regional technology and e-sports corporations. The event is expected to contribute to improving Vietnam's capacity to organize international events, promote tourism and inspire careers for the young generation pursuing the field of e-sports.

As one of the most prestigious annual tournaments in the continent, ECA has been held alternately in China and Korea for the past 4 years, becoming a symbol of the spirit of cooperation and sustainable development in the Asian e-sports community. The fact that ECA 2025 is held in Vietnam for the first time affirms VIRESA's efforts and vision in raising the country's position, contributing to the National Digital Transformation Strategy, making Vietnam a new center of e-sports in the continent and spreading the message: "E-sports - A bridge of culture, creativity and integration in the digital age."
