With the sentiment of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", officers and soldiers of Xuan Dai Border Guard Station ( Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard) quickly deployed forces, coordinated with the government and volunteer organizations to organize "Zero-dong Kitchen" to support people to overcome difficulties, overcome the consequences of natural disasters, and soon stabilize their lives.
On November 8, when storm No. 13 had just passed, in Xuan Dai ward and Song Cau ward, Dak Lak province, there were still scattered roofs blown off, trees broken and many households had not yet stabilized their lives, people's lives faced many difficulties ahead. With the sentiment of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", officers and soldiers of Xuan Dai Border Guard Station quickly deployed forces, coordinated with the government and volunteer organizations to organize "Zero-dong kitchen" to support people to overcome difficulties, overcome the consequences of natural disasters, and soon stabilize their lives.
On the same day, the unit mobilized 68 officers and soldiers to residential areas that suffered heavy damage, supporting people in repairing houses, clearing fallen trees, collecting usable materials and clearing paths, helping people to return to normal life soon.

Along with labor support, Xuan Dai Border Guard Station coordinated with Phu Yen Firefly Charity Association to visit and provide support to 7 households whose houses were completely collapsed due to the storm, each household received 11 million VND; support of 11 million VND for the case of a person who died while working at sea; and also gave 6 million VND to each owner of two sunken fishing boats. The total value of support was 100 million VND, demonstrating the spirit of sharing and promptly helping people overcome the current difficult period.

The most impressive activity was the “Zero-dong Kitchen” model implemented by Xuan Dai Border Guard Station in coordination with Hanh Nguyen Club. Realizing that many households could not cook because their kitchens were damaged, food was scarce, and roads were flooded and ruined, early in the morning of November 8, a field kitchen was set up right in the residential area. Under a simple canvas roof, pots and pans were placed on a red-hot wood stove, officers, soldiers and volunteers took turns picking vegetables, washing rice, cooking rice, and preparing dishes.

Every day, the kitchen prepares and distributes 1,000 free meals including hot rice, main dishes and soup, carefully packaged. Working groups bring meals to residential areas, schools, temporary shelters from storms and even single households and the elderly. For those who are busy collecting fishing gear and repairing boats to soon set sail, a hot meal in the midst of fatigue is a practical and timely source of encouragement.

The “Zero-dong kitchen” not only solves the immediate food needs, but what touches people the most is the image of the border guards rolling up their sleeves, serving soup, distributing rice, asking and encouraging people in the difficult circumstances of natural disasters and floods. In difficult circumstances, that simple meal becomes a symbol of the close relationship between the army and the people, of the spirit of mutual love “so that no one is left behind”.
