On the evening of November 8, Ho Chi Minh City organized a meeting with universities to celebrate Vietnam Teachers' Day. Attending were Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, along with principals, representatives of universities and students in the city.
Opening the meeting, Secretary Tran Luu Quang expressed his gratitude to the teachers who have devoted themselves to the cause of educating people, affirming the role of teachers in inspiring, awakening dreams and cultivating humanistic values.
Ho Chi Minh City is proud to be a knowledge hub, where higher education is the driving force for innovation and development. The city will work with schools to build an open knowledge space, promote transfer and nurture young talent.
Vietnamese Teachers' Day is an occasion to show gratitude and remind us of our responsibility to serve knowledge, serve people and the Fatherland.
During the meeting, delegates raised many opinions about the role of education and training in the development of Ho Chi Minh City, proposed cooperation mechanisms between schools and the city, the need to plan land funds for universities, green transformation strategies, developing high-quality human resources, building ecosystems and green transportation.
Many recommendations focus on improving policies, enhancing the capacity of educational institutions, promoting technology... with the desire for sustainable development of the city.
Secretary of the City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang listened to each opinion and answered many questions and proposals from universities and academies.
He said the city appreciates the contributions of intellectuals and will try to remove obstacles, creating conditions for schools to continue to develop and accompany Ho Chi Minh City.
"I hope everyone will be more 'brave' in giving opinions and suggestions. The current system is much different from before, and the conditions for Ho Chi Minh City to change for the better are very large.
All comments will be compiled and selected by us in the spirit of common interests. The Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies will be the initial point of contact and consultation, after which the City will continue to classify and select to determine what needs to be done first.
The first and most important thing is that everyone helps me build a 'mechanism' so that city leaders can receive full information. From there, we will choose the best solutions for the development of Ho Chi Minh City," said Mr. Quang.
