The Investigation Police Agency announced the decision to supplement the prosecution of the accused Trinh Van Du.
According to the investigation results: Around November 2024, the defendant Trinh Van Du drove the fishing vessel KG-941XX-TS to the waters of Thailand to illegally transport seafood to Vietnam. The defendant intentionally turned off the voyage monitoring system (VMS) to avoid control by the authorities.
Currently, the case is being further investigated and handled by the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police according to the provisions of law.
The prosecution and expanded investigation of the defendant Trinh Van Du demonstrates the resolute and uncompromising stance of the authorities in handling violations of the law in the fisheries sector, preventing Vietnamese fishing vessels from violating foreign waters, contributing to the effective implementation of solutions to prevent and combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, demonstrating Vietnam's determination in its efforts to remove the European Commission's (EC) "yellow card" on fisheries exploitation activities.
