Scientific seminar on the Ministry of National Defense level on the activities of the Standing Militia Fleet

On the morning of November 13, at Phu Quoc special zone (An Giang province), the Military Region 9 Command coordinated with the Coast Guard Region 4 and Naval Region 5 Commands to organize a scientific seminar on the Ministry of National Defense's topic "Activities of the standing militia squadron participating in the struggle to protect sea and island sovereignty in the new situation". Major General Quach Van Nho, Deputy Commander of Military Region 9 chaired the seminar.

The report presented at the seminar stated: Vietnam's sea and islands are sacred parts of the Fatherland, with a particularly important strategic position in terms of national defense, security and economy. To mobilize the combined strength of the entire people and army in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands, the Ministry of National Defense has deployed Project 10609 on "Building a permanent militia fleet to participate in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands in the new situation". This is a new force organized, equipped and trained with a completely new operating model, which needs to be studied to clarify the theoretical and practical basis to promote its effectiveness.

Delegates focused on discussing research methods, determining requirements, contents and solutions to improve the operational efficiency of the Standing Militia Fleet. Opinions affirmed that strengthening and promoting the role of this force is an urgent requirement, contributing to firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands in the new period.

Concluding the discussion, Major General Quach Van Nho highly appreciated the contributions and asked the members of the project's Steering Committee to seriously absorb them to edit, supplement, and complete the project, and propose practical solutions to improve the quality of operations of the Standing Militia Squadron, meeting the requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland.
