The patient is Mr. PXH, born in 1988, crew member of fishing boat QNg 96199 TS of Quang Ngai province.
Previously, on November 12, Mr. H. made three deep dives to catch seafood, each dive lasting 20 to 30 minutes; the third dive ended at 4 p.m., about 20 nautical miles from Song Tu Tay Island. At 6 a.m. on November 13, the patient felt more tired, with weakness in the left half of his body. The crew treated him with recompression at a depth of 14 meters for an hour but there was no improvement. The patient was taken to Song Tu Tay Island's infirmary for emergency treatment at 1:45 p.m. on November 13 in a conscious state, slow to respond, able to follow commands; paralysis of the left half of his body, muscle strength of 2/5 on the left side, urinary retention, abdominal distension, constipation. The patient had no headache, no vomiting, no earache, no chest pain, no difficulty breathing...

Doctors and nurses at Song Tu Tay Island's infirmary diagnosed the patient with severe acute decompression sickness (type 2), complications of shock, nerve damage, intestinal paralysis, and urinary retention due to diving at a depth of 43m in the 19th hour. The infirmary consulted with the Naval Medical Institute, and treated the patient with re-pressure according to protocol 6, intravenous fluids, anti-shock, oxygen therapy, etc. The patient's condition is considered serious and he is currently being kept on the island for monitoring and continued treatment.
