Investing in Duong Dong 2 lake with a total cost of 2,950 billion VND

On the afternoon of November 13, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone ( An Giang Province) held a Conference to announce Decision No. 1732/QD-UBND, dated October 30, 2025 of the People's Committee of An Giang Province on approving the zoning plan of Duong Dong 2 Lake area, scale 1/2,000; Decision No. 1834/QD-UBND, dated November 10, 2025 of the Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province on approving the Duong Dong 2 Lake Investment Project - Construction investment component project and collecting opinions from agencies, organizations, individuals and representatives of the community on the content of the master plan at a scale of 1/500 of Cua Can Lake water plant under the zoning plan at a scale of 1/2,000 of Cua Can Lake area in Suoi Cat quarter, Phu Quoc Special Zone, with a scale of about 3.6 hectares.

According to Decision No. 1732/QD-UBND, the boundary of the land area for the zoning plan of Duong Dong 2 lake area is Ben Tram quarter (Phu Quoc special zone) with an area of about 96.5 hectares. This will be the area of the reservoir and water plant supplying clean water in Phu Quoc special zone.

The reservoir has a capacity of about 4.7 million m³ and a water supply capacity of 36,500 m³/day and night. The traffic, power supply and communication systems are arranged underground. The rainwater and wastewater drainage systems are designed separately.

According to Decision No. 1834/QD-UBND, the Duong Dong 2 Lake investment project - a component project of construction investment, is a key project serving the APEC 2027 Conference and ensuring water resources for Phu Quoc, invested by the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works of An Giang Province.

After completion, the project will supply water for daily life, tourism and production for Phu Quoc special economic zone with a capacity of 36,500 m³/day and night. The total land area used for the project is about 96.5 hectares. The total investment cost of the project is 2,950 billion VND, of which the central budget supports 70% and the provincial budget 30%; implementation progress is 2025 - 2027.

During the conference program, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc special economic zone also sought opinions from agencies, organizations, individuals and representatives of the residential community on the content of the master plan project at a scale of 1/500 for Cua Can lake water plant under the zoning plan at a scale of 1/2,000 for Cua Can lake area in Suoi Cat quarter, Phu Quoc special economic zone, with a scale of about 3.6 hectares.
