Vietnam and Denmark established diplomatic relations in 1971, and upgraded the relationship to a comprehensive partnership in 2013, continuing to a green strategic partnership until 2023.

An Giang province is implementing a high-tech marine farming project to both develop the economy and create livelihoods for fishermen, while actively carrying out the task of preventing IUU fishing.

It is known that Denmark is an active member and will assume the rotating presidency of the European Union in the last 6 months of 2025. Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Ho Van Mung, informed the Ambassador about the province's efforts in combating IUU fishing.

In recent times, under the strong direction and leadership of the Party and State, An Giang province, together with localities nationwide, has actively carried out the task of preventing IUU fishing; strictly implementing the recommendations of the European Commission EC so that Vietnam can soon remove the yellow card.

Hopefully, the Danish Government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support and back Vietnam in the process of requesting the European Commission to soon remove the IUU "Yellow Card" for Vietnam's seafood exports.
