Arrested another suspect in the land fraud case of Phu Quoc International Airport

On the morning of November 13, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police announced that it had issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Le Thanh Ha (born 1971), residing in Suoi May quarter, Phu Quoc special zone (An Giang province), to investigate the act of fraud and property appropriation.

Previously, on June 22, the Investigation Police Agency of Kien Giang Provincial Police (now An Giang Provincial Police) initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained 7 subjects: Nguyen Van Dien (born in 1955), Nguyen Quoc Dien (born in 1989), Diep Duy Hao (born in 1996), Diep Duy Dung (born in 1976), Diep Khanh Quang (born in 2000), Nguyen Thi Chang (born in 1974) and Nguyen Quoc Son (born in 1975), all residing in Suoi May Hamlet, Duong To Commune, Phu Quoc City (now Phu Quoc Special Zone), to investigate the act of fraud and appropriation of property.

Based on documents and evidence collected during the investigation of the case, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police discovered that Le Thanh Ha had committed fraud and appropriated property, with a total amount of more than 1 billion VND from 5 victims through the transfer of land plots with a total area of ^{​​7,000m2} , located in Suoi May quarter.

The investigation determined that the entire ^7,000m2 area of ​​land belonged to other individuals and was managed by the state, not Le Thanh Ha's land. In 2010, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc District (old) established a compensation and support plan for the Phu Quoc International Airport project and completed the compensation and support work for related individuals.

At the same time, the entire area of ​​the above land plots located in the Phu Quoc International Airport area was granted a land use right certificate by the People's Committee of Kien Giang province (now An Giang province) to the Southern Airport Authority.

The investigation agency determined that Ha used fraudulent tricks, forged land origin papers and authorization papers of Ms. LKL (Ha's mother-in-law) to legalize land of other individuals and organizations as family land, with the origin of land reclamation, in order to sell to the victims to appropriate a total amount of more than 1 billion VND.

Currently, the case is under further investigation.
