Major General Vu Quoc An, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Border Guard, and Lieutenant General Tien Sophonrnvong, Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of the Border Guard Department of the Kingdom of Cambodia, co-chaired the discussion.

Vietnam and Cambodia have a land border of about 1,258 km, passing through 10 provinces of Vietnam and 9 provinces of Cambodia. Over the years, the Government, army and people of the two countries have always implemented the agreements, decrees and cooperation regulations between the two countries. Thereby, the situation of territorial sovereignty , security and order in the Vietnam - Cambodia border area has always been stable, the border and border markers have been maintained, the solidarity and friendship between the two countries has been consolidated and developed; the cooperation relationship between the youth and the border protection forces of the two sides has become increasingly better and deeper.
Major General Nguyen Kim Khanh, former Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, who directly participated in the fight to help the Cambodian people escape the genocide, shared: What he always kept in mind throughout his life was the pure and sincere affection of the Cambodian people for the Vietnamese soldiers. That love became a source of great spiritual strength, helping the Vietnamese soldiers fulfill their noble international duty.

Major General Nguyen Kim Khanh emphasized that the close relationship between the armies and people of the two countries was built with blood and sacrifices of many generations. He hoped that the young generation of the Vietnamese and Cambodian armies today would continue that tradition with a spirit of solidarity, understanding and close cooperation; always putting the interests of peace and friendship first.
Major Truong Dong Phi, Deputy Political Commissar of My Thanh Tay Border Guard Station (Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard) said that recently, the forces of both sides have increased coordination to help people on both sides of the border develop production, stabilize their lives, promote people-to-people diplomacy, support medical care and deploy many practical models such as "Helping children go to school", contributing to further tightening the solidarity, friendship and close ties between the border protection forces and people of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Colonel Lun Luch, Commander of the Border Protection Regiment, Special Military Region, Cambodian Army Command, shared: Young Cambodian officers always remember the great contributions of generations of soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army, who spared no effort to sacrifice their blood and bones, contributing to liberating the Cambodian people from the disaster of genocide.
Colonel Lun Luch expressed his deep belief that Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to preserve and promote the traditional solidarity and friendship, the valuable achievements that previous generations have worked hard to cultivate over the past time. Emphasizing the role of the young generation of the two countries, especially the young officers in the army, Colonel Lun Luch said that this is the force that plays a core role in inheriting, preserving and promoting the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia. In the current context, the youth of the two countries need to increase exchanges, learn, share experiences, and together build a peaceful, cooperative and developed border, contributing to maintaining stability, helping people on both sides feel secure in working and producing.

Closing the program, young officers, delegates and people sang together the song “Friendship Border”, expressing the solidarity and close bond between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia. With the core role in managing and protecting the border, the young officers of the two countries are expected to continue to contribute to fostering, consolidating and developing the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense awarded scholarships to 60 disadvantaged students from the two countries.
