
More than 60 years of affirming position
On October 15, 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Decision No. 2839/QD-BGDDT on changing the name of Quang Nam Medical College to Da Nang Medical College (under the People's Committee of Da Nang City).
MSc. Bui Long An, Acting Principal of Da Nang City Medical College, said that the predecessor of the school was the Quang Nam Medical Staff Training Facility, established in 1961, with the mission of training medical and pharmaceutical staff to effectively serve the battlefield of Zone 5 in the resistance war against the US to save the country.
Since the liberation, the school has gone through stages of development and name changes: From 1975 to 1978, it was the Quang Nam - Da Nang Medical Staff Training School; in 1978, it was renamed Quang Nam - Da Nang Medical High School; in 1997, it was renamed Quang Nam Medical High School. In 2006, the Ministry of Education and Training decided to establish Quang Nam Medical College.
This event marks the school's collective efforts in adapting to the new context, expanding cooperation opportunities, improving the quality of training and scientific research, aiming to become a center for training high-quality medical human resources in the Central Highlands and the whole country.

With a 64-year tradition, the school's core mission is to train, retrain and upgrade medical staff with college and other qualifications. The unit carries out the mission of taking the quality of training and scientific research as the source of sustainable development, contributing to ensuring medical human resources to serve the cause of protecting, caring for and improving the health of people in the Central Highlands region.
Currently, the school offers programs from intermediate, college to short-term courses and continuously updates the curriculum. The main training fields include: nursing, pharmacy, midwifery, medical laboratory technology, medical imaging technology.
A place to nurture Lao medical staff and international cooperation
Danang Medical College is a unit with spacious facilities and modern teaching equipment. The teaching staff is highly qualified, experienced, dedicated to imparting knowledge, skills and educating professional working attitudes to students. The school is on the path to build a high-quality college with many professions that meet national and ASEAN standards.
Da Nang Medical College has affirmed its position in nursing training in the Central Highlands with more than 20 continuous training courses. Up to now, the school has trained 4,390 nursing students; of which 4,070 have graduated.
The school is also considered the "cradle" of training medical staff for the southern provinces of Laos. As of October 30, 2025, the school has trained 396 Lao students, of which 308 have graduated, with 201 graduates from Sekong province alone. Lao alumni are currently working at medical facilities across Laos. Many of the first batch of medical students have completed their studies and have contributed greatly to the medical examination and treatment of the Lao people, especially in Sekong province.
In addition, the school is promoting its international cooperation strategy to improve quality and expand employment opportunities for students. Since 2013, the school has actively participated in cooperation programs with Japan and Germany, bringing attractive job opportunities abroad. Currently, there are 38 students working in Germany under the cooperation agreement, of which 30 have obtained professional certificates and wish to settle permanently.
In Japan, through the EPA program (Economic Partnership Agreement) between the two governments of Vietnam and Japan, there are 15 students working stably with an average income of 130,000 - 170,000 yen/month. The school has signed cooperation agreements with many large Japanese medical corporations (such as Aoyama, Yokohama, Kanagawa), and at the same time supports students in learning Japanese and taking the national practice certificate exam (N2). In particular, the 2021 memorandum of understanding with the Nagasaki Provincial Health and Welfare Department (Japan) has opened up a sustainable direction in training and recommending high-quality nursing staff, with 4 students currently working in Nagasaki.
Aspiration to reach far
According to Master Bui Long An, with a history of 64 years of formation and development, the staff, lecturers, civil servants and employees of Da Nang City Medical College will unite to promote strengths, overcome weaknesses and develop the school to become stronger and stronger.

The leaders of Da Nang Medical College affirmed that with this significant milestone, the school focuses on fundamentally innovating methods, curriculum and training programs to keep up with modern medical advances and social needs. In particular, focusing on expanding the continuous training system, developing inter-level programs from intermediate, college to university, creating lifelong learning opportunities for students.
At the same time, promote scientific research, encourage lecturers and students to participate in projects, and apply research results into practice. The school strengthens international cooperation, establishes and expands relationships with universities, research institutes and international medical organizations to exchange academic knowledge and improve the quality of training and research.
In particular, the school is in the process of completing the program to open the College of General Medicine major code to enroll students from 2026 and is oriented to gradually open new major codes such as: College of Traditional Medicine, College of Rehabilitation Technology, College of Dental Nursing...
In every stage of development throughout history, Da Nang Medical College is committed to training people with professional competence, professional ethics, communication skills, behavior and the spirit of self-study to improve their qualifications.
