There are many ways to help people reduce poverty, such as support from the "For the Poor" Fund with activities like giving gifts, building houses, donating breeding cattle; providing loans for production development, etc., for poor households, which are things that localities have been doing.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Vu (residing in Binh Chau A hamlet, Tuyen Binh commune) is a poor household in the locality. For many years, she has lived in an old, dilapidated house on land given to her by her parents. Every time it rains, the house leaks everywhere, and when it's sunny, it's unbearably hot.

The house of Ms. Le Thi Thanh Vu (residing in Binh Chau A hamlet, Tuyen Binh commune) is nearly completed.

As part of the "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" program, the local authorities provided Ms. Vu's family with 80 million VND to build a new house, helping them to stabilize their lives. "Having a new house, I am so grateful to the government and benefactors! My dream of having a sturdy house for so many years has finally come true," Ms. Vu said emotionally.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sang's family (residing in Cay Me hamlet, Hung Dien commune) is also facing difficult circumstances, classified as a near-poor household in the locality. Her health is failing, and she relies on her youngest son and his wife, who are not well-off and mainly work as laborers. Their makeshift house, with its corrugated iron roof, has deteriorated after many years of use, leaving the family living in dilapidated conditions.

Having received support to build a sturdy house, Mrs. Sang emotionally said: “I’m so happy, it feels like a dream! Without the help of the local government and philanthropists, I don’t know when I would have been able to have a house like this. Thank you everyone for caring about the difficult circumstances of poor people like my family.”

Since moving into her new house, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sang (residing in Cay Me hamlet, Hung Dien commune) no longer worries about leaks whenever it rains.

The program to "eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" has profound humanitarian significance, demonstrating the spirit of "mutual support and compassion," especially for poor and near-poor households. According to Tran Duy Tam, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hung Dien commune, housing support not only helps poor households settle down and stabilize their lives but also serves as motivation to overcome difficulties and rise out of poverty.

The people of Bung Ram hamlet, Hung Dien commune, all admire the resilience and determination of Ms. Ly Thi Say's family in overcoming difficulties and escaping poverty. Without land for farming, she worked hard every day as a hired laborer to make a living. In 2021, the commune provided her family with a breeding cow. Besides finding daily feed for the cow, Ms. Say proactively learned from experienced farmers and participated in livestock training courses organized by the local authorities, making raising breeding cows easier and more convenient.

Thanks to good care, the cows thrived and have now given birth to four calves. Ms. Say sold three of them to cover her living expenses. In 2025, the commune continued to support her with two more cows, so she now has three breeding cows and two calves. Her family's life is now more stable, and they have escaped poverty.

Ms. Say shared: “Over the past time, the local government has paid great attention to the lives of the people, especially poor and near-poor households. Without the timely attention and support of the local government, my family would not have the life we have today.”

Ms. Ly Thi Say (residing in Bung Ram hamlet, Hung Dien commune) persevered through hardship and has now escaped poverty.

Besides providing "fishing rods" to poor households, localities have also done a good job of mobilizing philanthropists to care for them through activities such as building charitable houses, giving gifts, providing free medical examinations and medicine, etc. With the joint efforts and decisive involvement of the entire political system and society, along with the determination of poor households to improve their lives, the lives of the people will continue to improve.
