
The conference attracted the participation of 26 leading experts from Japan, Taiwan (China), India, Malaysia; along with 500 delegates who are leaders, experts, and spinal specialists from medical facilities nationwide and the Mekong Delta region.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Dr. Nguyen Minh Vu, Director of Can Tho Central General Hospital, emphasized: Evidence-based medicine is the foundation of modern medical practice, helping to update the latest knowledge to improve the quality of treatment, health care and ensure patient safety. Scientific research and updating advanced knowledge in diagnosis, treatment and care are key tasks of every medical staff, contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnamese medicine. In addition, regularly organizing large-scale scientific conferences like this has helped the hospital develop strongly in the field of spinal surgery, while improving the quality of specialized examination and treatment of trauma and orthopedics for people in the region.

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Van Thanh, Honorary President of the Ho Chi Minh City Spine Association, said that this year's conference has special significance for the Mekong Delta region. In the spine field, progress lies not only in new surgical techniques, but also in standardizing the treatment process from diagnosis, indications, surgery to rehabilitation. Continuous training and technology transfer help regional medical teams treat complex cases locally. At the same time, promoting international cooperation is also a key factor in shortening the professional gap between treatment levels.

At the conference, leading experts from home and abroad presented 29 lectures and in-depth reports, including 25 reports on spine and 4 reports on orthopedic oncology. The reports focused on modern treatment techniques, minimally invasive surgery trends and post-operative care, contributing to expanding knowledge and updating clinical practice for medical staff.
Within the framework of the 4th spinal surgery training program at Can Tho Central General Hospital from November 6 to 9, experts conducted consultations, examinations, consultations and surgeries on 4 cases of complex spinal pathologies, including: 1 case of decompression surgery of the lamina using the Shiraishi method C3-C4-C5 and part of C6; 1 case of posterior L4-L5 interbody fusion (PLIF)/ L4/5 lumbar instability, lumbar spinal stenosis compressing nerve roots; 2 cases of cervical spine pain injections due to nerve root pathology. These surgeries are of high practical significance, helping domestic doctors access and directly practice modern techniques under the guidance of leading international experts.
