On the morning of November 10, the Medical Services Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health continued to update cases of suspected food poisoning after eating bread at Ms. B's bread shop, coming to the hospital for examination and treatment.
Most of the cases ate bread at branch 1 Nguyen Thai Son (Hanh Thong ward), some cases at branch 2 Le Quang Dinh (Binh Loi Trung ward).
As of 8am on November 10, 13 hospitals reported receiving a total of 235 cases of poisoning after eating bread, of which 96 cases are being treated as inpatients.
Among these 13 hospitals, there are additional hospitals recording new cases such as Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital (facility 1, facility 3), People's Hospital 115...
Currently, most of the cases are stable, but there is one serious case due to underlying disease that is being actively treated at Gia Dinh People's Hospital.
The cases of food poisoning after eating bread that have been treated at 13 hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City as of 10am this morning are as follows:
- Military Hospital 175 : 131 cases, of which 23 are being treated as inpatients, the rest have recovered or been discharged for outpatient treatment. Currently there are no more severe cases.
- Tam Anh General Hospital: 26 cases (including 1 case in branch 2). There are currently 13 cases still being treated as inpatients, including 1 case initially in intensive care, currently stable.
- Gia Dinh People's Hospital has admitted 52 cases (of which 8 are related to Branch 2), and currently has 34 inpatients. One patient admitted since November 5th had a positive blood culture for Salmonella and is responding to antibiotic treatment. In addition, there is a severe case requiring a ventilator in the intensive care unit due to respiratory failure due to pneumonia, the main cause of which is the underlying disease.
- Binh Dan Hospital: 1 case, now stable and discharged.
- My Duc Tan Binh Hospital: 1 case, a 28-year-old pregnant woman, 34 weeks and 2 days pregnant, currently receiving inpatient treatment. The pregnant woman is currently stable: no fever, stable vital signs, no abdominal pain, no more loose stools, normal fetal movement, normal fetal heart rate.
- Becamex International Hospital: 9 cases, all are being treated as inpatients, no serious cases have been recorded.
- Central America West General Hospital: 7 cases (including 1 case in branch 2), currently being treated as inpatients, no serious cases.
- Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital, Khanh Hoi General Hospital, Children's Hospital 2: each place is treating 1 inpatient case, all are not serious.
- Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital recorded a total of 4 cases. At facility 1, there were 2 cases, both not serious, of which 1 case was transferred to Thong Nhat Hospital and 1 case was transferred to Trung My Tay Hospital for treatment. At facility 3, there were 2 cases being treated as inpatients, currently no longer vomiting and diarrhea, only mild abdominal pain.
- People's Hospital 115: 1 case, currently requesting to go home for outpatient treatment.
The Medical Affairs Department said it has consulted on a report to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Ministry of Health , and a document directing hospitals to ensure admission, classification, and treatment according to the food poisoning treatment regimen issued by the Department of Health.
At the same time, hospitals are required to promptly report to the Department of Health (Medical Affairs Department), including admission status, number of severe cases, microbiology results and complications (if any).
According to the Department of Health, clinical and paraclinical data of most patients with food poisoning after eating bread are consistent with intestinal bacterial agents, most likely Salmonella.
