After receiving the information, The Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) has coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety direct the implementation of emergency measures to protect people's health and prevent similar incidents from happening.
In which, the Food Safety Department requested localities to request hospitals that are treating patients concentrate resources and provide intensive care to ensure the safety of patients' lives and health;
Organization investigation, traceability food suspected of causing poisoning; food and specimen sampling test to find the cause; identify the raw material supplier. At the same time, strictly handle food safety violations (if any), and at the same time public results to promptly warn the community.
The Food Safety Department also requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to continue strictly implementing the Ministry of Health 's instructions on strengthening food safety, preventing fake food and food poisoning; ensuring food safety in schools and collective kitchens; ensuring food safety and preventing foodborne diseases.
Localities need to strengthen Propaganda and guidance for food service establishments to properly implement regulations on: Controlling the origin and source of raw materials; Hygiene conditions in preliminary processing, processing, and transportation; Implementation three-step verification and food sample storage In addition, people are advised to choose establishments that ensure food safety, especially when participating in crowded events.
The Department requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to report the results of handling the case. as required for synthesis and monitoring.
* Regarding the above incident , on November 10, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health informed about suspected cases of food poisoning after eating bread at the Banh Mi shop located at 1 Nguyen Thai Son (Hanh Thong ward) and 2 Le Quang Dinh (Binh Loi Trung ward).
Accordingly, as of 8am on November 10, 235 suspected cases of poisoning had been examined and treated at 13 hospitals in the area. Of these, 96 cases were being treated as inpatients, most of whom are currently stable.
Most of the poisoning cases were caused by eating bread at the branch at 1 Nguyen Thai Son. Currently, the two bread selling establishments have temporarily stopped operating, all food and ingredients have been sealed and samples have been taken for testing. The inspection team is expanding the verification of related cases at many hospitals to determine the cause and handle them according to regulations.
Clinical and laboratory data showed that the majority of patients presented with intestinal infection, most likely due to Salmonella - a common cause of food poisoning.
