On the morning of November 9, a source at Military Hospital 175 said that on November 8, the hospital received 92 more patients with unusual symptoms after eating bread at a shop on Nguyen Thai Son Street, Hanh Thong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Thus, the number of people admitted to Military Hospital 175 related to the above incident has increased to more than 130 cases. Among the new cases, 4 cases had to be hospitalized for observation.

The hospital also recorded 2 cases of elderly people (60 to over 80 years old), with many underlying diseases, who were transferred to the Gastroenterology Department for intensive treatment. Most of the remaining cases have been discharged to be monitored at home.

As of the morning of November 9, Tam Anh General Hospital had received 22 cases related to the above incident, including: 10 cases being treated at the Department of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Endoscopy Center; 1 case being treated at the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison (ICU); 11 cases have been discharged.

Most of the cases treated in the emergency room and with specialized specialists are in better condition than before being admitted to the hospital, when the patient can walk and the symptoms have reduced.

On the afternoon of November 8, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety visited the hospital to record information about the cases. The team of doctors provided the authorities with initial data on the patients' condition upon admission, common points between the cases and the current treatment process.

In addition, a number of other hospitals (such as Gia Dinh People's Hospital, Binh Dan Hospital, Becamex International Hospital...) also sent reports to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health about receiving suspected cases of poisoning after eating bread.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that, through records from medical facilities in the area, the initial finding that the agent causing the poisoning in the incident was Salmonella bacteria (in the sample taken from the case treated at Gia Dinh People's Hospital).

The Department of Health has directed hospitals to ensure treatment according to the issued treatment regimen for food poisoning, including rehydration and electrolyte replacement, monitoring vital signs and organ function, prescribing appropriate paraclinical tests, taking stool samples and blood cultures when suspected of invasive infection before using antibiotics.

If antibiotics are indicated, consider targeting Salmonella group enteric bacteria. Hospitals have implemented a rapid reporting system to the Medical Affairs Department, to promptly coordinate and unify treatment regimens.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety said that this agency has coordinated with the People's Committee of Hanh Thong Ward to establish an investigation team to handle food poisoning related to the above incident.

The team conducted a surprise inspection at a bakery on Nguyen Thai Son Street, Hanh Thong Ward. At the time of the inspection, the facility was temporarily closed, so the team sealed the food and food ingredients for testing.

In addition, the Delegation also collected information from patients being treated at the hospital to determine the cause and handle it according to regulations.

Currently, the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City has reported the above incident to the Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health .

Doctors recommend that people who suspect food poisoning after eating bread should go to the hospital early and not try to treat themselves at home because the condition can worsen and become more serious.
