The award is jointly organized by the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, Millon Vietnam and A&V Foundation, aiming to encourage creativity and create a stepping stone for students in their future artistic career development. In June 2025, the three units signed a memorandum of understanding, agreeing to organize the award and promote cooperation in the field of fine arts, connecting the domestic and international art community.
The award is named after Victor Tardieu – a French painter, the first Principal and founder of the Indochina College of Fine Arts. He is considered the founder of modern Vietnamese fine arts, contributing to the formation of the first generation of painters in our country.
In 2025, the Victor Tardieu Prize was awarded for the first time to seven outstanding graduates: Tong Tien Dat (Oil Painting), Tran Thi Hoi (Silk Painting), Nguyen Duong Tra Mi (Lacquer Painting), Trinh Thu Van (Graphics), Nguyen Duc Nghia (Sculpture), Dinh Thanh Truc (Art Pedagogy) and Nguyen Phuong Anh (Graphic Design).
