Pioneer in efficient energy use and green development
As a locality that always leads the country in terms of industrial production index, Bac Ninh is currently demonstrating proactive steps in ensuring energy security associated with green development goals.
Accordingly, in addition to solutions to promote the use of energy economically and efficiently, the provincial government encourages businesses to install solar power systems on the roofs of factories, office buildings, and residential areas. Many businesses in industrial parks have responded, contributing to reducing pressure on the national power system, saving production costs and realizing the goal of green growth.

At Fuyu Precision Technology Co., Ltd., a member of Foxconn Science and Technology Group, Mr. Chau Nghia Van - Deputy General Director of Foxconn Science and Technology Group in Vietnam, said: Since 2019, when investing in Quang Chau Industrial Park, Fuyu has always complied with regulations on economical and efficient use of energy. The company has built and applied an energy management system according to international standards ISO 50001:2018 to the production process, ensuring the correct use of capacity and load chart; implementing reasonable production plans; minimizing the mobilization of equipment and machinery with high power consumption during peak hours; minimizing the operation of electrical equipment without load.
Accordingly, Fuyu has installed a self-produced and self-consumed solar energy system on the company's factory roofs with 24,892 solar panels, with a total installed capacity of 14,312.79 kWp, meeting over 10% of the company's electricity consumption while helping to reduce pressure on the electricity industry, contributing to ensuring the security and safety of the national power grid, especially during the peak of the dry season and hot season in recent years.
According to Mr. Chau Nghia Van, every month the company conducts checks on the implementation of energy saving and efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the production process to evaluate the effectiveness and promptly take corrective measures.
“ We also promote and encourage staff and workers to actively participate in establishing technical improvement projects to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, optimize costs, and improve labor productivity, ” said Mr. Nghia.
Typically, the company has built KPI for energy saving. All related units that do not achieve KPI targets must explain the reasons. At the same time, every year the company will organize 2 times to commend typical activities in Energy Saving, with rewards for excellent projects and innovation initiatives, thereby encouraging employees to actively participate in innovation initiatives to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In investing in and renovating office equipment, Foxconn requires that all energy-using products must undergo an energy efficiency assessment.
“ We prioritize using equipment labeled with high efficiency and energy efficiency from 4 to 5 stars in Vietnam or energy efficiency at level 1 to 2 in China, ” Mr. Chau Nghia Van added.
In addition, Fuyu also issued regulations on electricity usage such as: Turn off the lighting system in the factory at the assembly line, production equipment during breaks, meals, and after work; set the air conditioner temperature in the office area not lower than 26°C in the summer, do not open doors and windows when using air conditioner, each time there must be effective measures at the entrance to prevent air conditioner leakage such as installing hydraulic arms, windproof curtains or plastic curtains, etc.
Also an FDI enterprise specializing in the production of electronic components, since 2008 when investing in Dinh Tram Industrial Park and Quang Chau Industrial Park, FuHong Precision Company Limited has identified green development, energy saving, and emission reduction as one of the important pillars of the enterprise.
Mr. Tran Van Son, Technical Director, FuHong Precision Component Co., Ltd. (Vietnam) said: In order to proactively have a stable energy source for production, reduce electricity costs, and move towards green and sustainable development, since 2023, FuHong has invested in a rooftop solar power system with a capacity of 8.13 MWp, following the model of self-production, self-consumption without generating electricity to the grid.
The system currently provides an average of 8 million kWh per year, helping to reduce emissions by approximately 6,760 tons of CO₂/year, contributing to the Company's Net Zero 2040 and Vietnam's Net Zero 2050 targets.
“ Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has had many policies to encourage businesses to develop rooftop solar power projects. Currently, our company is also researching to buy electricity from green power plants through the direct power purchase mechanism (DPPA) according to the guidance of Decree No. 57/2025/ND-CP dated March 3, 2025 of the Government, ” said Mr. Son.
Joining hands to develop green energy, Samsung Vietnam has just officially inaugurated a rooftop solar power system at the Samsung Electronics Vietnam factory in Yen Phong Industrial Park. This project is expected to generate about 2.5 million kWh of clean electricity per year, contributing to significantly reducing carbon emissions.

Currently, many factories in Quang Chau Industrial Park have invested in self-producing and self-consuming rooftop solar power systems.
According to the assessment of the authorities, although the project's installed capacity of more than 2.1 MW is much lower than the electricity consumption of the load, this is the first step in implementing the roadmap for converting to renewable energy for Samsung in particular and businesses in general.
Along with the above enterprises, many enterprises in Bac Ninh province have focused on investing in developing rooftop solar power such as: Nienyi Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd., Luxshare - ICT Co., Ltd., Van Trung Industrial Park; Pearl Global Vietnam Co., Ltd., Norsk Solar Co., Ltd. (Bac Giang ward)...
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, Bac Ninh province currently has 137 self-producing and self-consuming rooftop solar power systems with a total installed capacity of 175,515 MW. The solar power generated not only helps reduce pressure on the national power system, especially during peak summer hours, but also maximizes power generation efficiency, aiming for sustainable development and ensuring long-term energy security.
Aiming to be the leading locality in the country in rooftop solar power
According to the Industrial Park Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, Bac Ninh province has 50 industrial parks with a total area of 15,202 hectares and 96 industrial clusters with a total area of 3,673 hectares. Notably, the whole province currently has about 6,800 hectares of factory roofs. Along with favorable natural conditions (1,530 - 1,776 hours of sunshine/year), this is a great potential to realize the province's renewable energy development goal.
In particular, Decree No. 58 dated March 3, 2025 of the Government has created a solid legal foundation, detailing a number of articles of the Electricity Law on the development of renewable energy and new energy, thereby strongly encouraging the model of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power, including cases of generating surplus electricity to the national grid.
Responding to this policy, Bac Ninh Electricity Company has synchronously deployed technical support solutions, provided guidance on connection procedures, monitored safety, and promoted communication to raise public awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of rooftop solar power. Up to now, the whole province has had 1,095 rooftop solar power systems connected to the national grid with a total capacity of 35.12 MWp, in addition to a series of self-production and self-consumption systems operating effectively in households and businesses.

Bac Ninh province has determined that, in the context of increasing energy demand, proactively providing clean, stable and reasonably priced electricity is a key factor to ensure sustainable production and business, improve competitiveness and contribute to environmental protection. Rooftop solar power is a superior solution, bringing many socio-economic benefits.
According to the adjusted Power Plan VIII, Bac Ninh province is assigned the target of developing 3,392 MW of rooftop solar power capacity by 2035. If completed, the province will have an additional nearly 4 billion kWh annually, equivalent to a minimum value of about VND 8,000 billion, contributing nearly 2% of the province's economic scale and creating an important driving force for economic growth.
Mr. Pham Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee, said that with the practical and long-term benefits of rooftop solar power, Bac Ninh province calls on organizations, businesses and individuals to actively research, invest and install rooftop solar power systems in existing works and new projects; at the same time, closely coordinate with the province's functional agencies to receive guidance and support on procedures and technical implementation.
